AUTHORIZING MICROBIAL ABATEMENT AND CLEANING
SERVICES AT THE BOROUGH HALL ON AN
EMERGENCY BASIS
WHEREAS, the Carteret Borough Hall continues to require constant,
uninterrupted maintenance of the affected area in order to contain the potentially
microbial contaminated areas in order to provide a safe working environment for
Borough Hall workers; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer for the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough")
has inspected the Borough Hall and has determined that maintenance efforts in
effect should continue for at least an additional three (3) months; and
WHEREAS, the obtaining of a new contractor to perform the maintenance
service would result in a service interruption; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer has certified that an emergency repair is
needed and that an emergency condition exists in accordance with N.J.A.C. 5:34-
6.1; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Chief Financial Officer has certified that the
necessary funds exist to provide for payment of the service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a contract is hereby awarded to
Preferred Cleaning Solutions, Inc. in the amount of $4,600.00 for rental of
equipment and maintenance costs through the end of 1999.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this award is made without competitive
bidding pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:l 1-6 in that an emergency which threatens the
health, safety, and welfare of the Borough exists, thus necessitating the emergent
repairs and this action by Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Purchasing Agent be directed to issue a
purchase order.

and certified as a tree copy of the original
on October 13, 1999.
