Monday August 2nd. 1920.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session in the offices of the said Board Monday Aug. 2, 1920
at 9 :00 A.M. All members of the said 'Board being present Messrs. I'
Von Pein, Taylor and Peltzthe following proceedings were had to-wit :
The City Ehgineer reported the completion of the contract under imp-
rovement resolution 574-1920. Mr. Peltz moved that it be accepted,
and the Clerk be ordered to prepair assessment roll. seconded• by Mr.
Taylor, motion prevailed.
Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, reported the the Board that Anthony Lucas had
failed to report for service and that he had appointed Frank Davis on
the fire force. The Board approved the appointment.
Mr. Peltz moved that one Second Assistant Chief and five ( 5) Lieutenants .
be appointed from the regudt.ar force to make up the platoon system, and
that the pay of the Second Assistant Chief be $113.00 per month and
each of the Lieutenants y 108.00 per month. Seconded by Taylor, motion
prevailed.
Mr. Pelts moved that an ordinance be drawn by the City Attorney asking
Council to appropriate an additional ; 50,000 for the purchase, insulation
and erection of certain improvements for the Light Plant. seconded by
Taylor, so ordered.
Board received comunications from Morris Knowles, engineers, for engin-
eering services to be rendered in connection with the purposed insulation
of the 5000 K.W. turbogenerator for the Light Plant, which was ordered
placed on file.
`lhe Board received a comunication from H. O. 'Garmon, Chief Engineer of
the Public Service Commission to H.W.Gilbert in regard tO his>:appessing
before City Council. Ordered placed on Bile.
The Board instructed the City Attorney to prepair an ordinance regulating
heavy traffic over the Doran Bridge
At the request of Mr. Dillon, Supt, of Light Plant , the Board instructed
the City Attorney to prepair an ordinance making an additional appropria-
tion of $50,000 to coal account and $40,000 to payiroll' account of the
M. E. L. & P. Plant.
The Board received letters from Mr. Dillon, Supt. of the Light Plant in
regard to the alleged offer of Mr. Shera to `'urnish the Light Plant with
coal at $2.80 per ton. Ordered placed on file.
Mr. Taylor moved that the City Engineer be instructed to have the Street
Department make the necessary sewer work and gutter changes on So. J st. ,
Secnnded by Mr. Peltz , so ordered. ,

Er. Dillon, Supt . of the Light Plant , filed with the Board a written
report that he had purchased on July 31st . 1920 one ( 1) car of 22ifich
Indiana H.R. coal at 5.50 f.o.b. mines, from the Superior Ice and
Coal Comrany. Ordered placed on file.
The Board then adjourned.

The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in
regular session in the offices of the said Board Thursday, August 5,
1920, at 9 ;00 A. M. All the members of the said Board being present
Messrs. Von Pein, Taylor and Peltz , the following proceedings were
had , to-wit :
Mr. Peltz moved that' the contract and agreement of the Richmond
Chatauqua Association to use a portion of Glen Miller Park for hold-
ing Chatauqua assemblies the following years 1920-1924 inclusive,
be modified and a notation of the modification be attached to the
original contract® Seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered.
Board approved the primary assessment roll in the matter of Improve-
ment Res . NO. 574-1920 , for the construction of a cement roadway in
the first alley South of West Main Street from West 1st. to West 2d.
The Clerk presented the complaints from Council, Monday, August 2,
1920 , which were referred to the Street Commissioner .

The Board granted Dr. E. E. Holland permission to cut the curb for
a 14ft . in front of real estate, No. 7 , J. P. Smith' s Addition on
I/ : the West side of South 20th Street , subject to the inspection and
approval of the City Engineer.
The Engineer reported the completion of the Contract under Imp. Res.
No.577-1920. Mr. Peitz moved that it beaccepted. Seconded by Mr.
Taylor, so ordered. The Clerk was ordered to prepare an assessment
roll.
