PLATNFIELD VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Regular Meeting
DATE: June 2, 1980
AT: Village Hall
MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: President R. Selfridge, Trustees G. Ansley, J. Graham,
J. King, Z. Robinson and C. Smith. J. D'Arcy absent.
President called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the pledge to the flag. Roll call
was taken. J. D'Arcy was absent.
L. Robinson made a motion to approve the minutes of May 5 and May 19, 1980. Seconded by
C. Smith. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; and
Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
Board granted permission to the Joliet American Legion Band to solicit funds June 14,
1980 for their annual tag day - with the stipulation that there be na soliciting on
any highway in the Village.
Board granted permission to the Plainfield Historical Society for the street north of
the Village Green (Chicago St.) be blacked off between Desplaines St. and Fox River St.
for their Ice Cream Social and Square Dance to be held on July l6 (rain date - July 17).
J. King made a motion for the attorney to draw up an Ordinance to prohibit left turns
from Illinois 59 northbound onto Illinois 125 westbound as required by the Illinois
Department of Transportation. Seconded by C. Smith. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye;
Graham, aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared
carried.
G. Ansley made a motion to accept the recommendation of the Plan Commission that the
Village support the recently proposed site relocation of the I55 weigh stations.
Seconded by J. Graham. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye;
Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
G. Ansley made a motion to accept the Plan Commission report. Seconded by J. King.
Motion declared carried.
At 8:00 p.m. the following bids were read for water tower painting:
Diversified Coatings, Ltd. - $22,995.00
Neumann Co. Contr. - $24,$00.00
Craftsman Painting Service - $22,600.00
U. S. Coating Engr. lnc. - $26,480.00
G. Ansley made motion to accept receipt of the bids. Seconded by J. King. Vote by
roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 5 ayes,
no nays. Motion declared carried.
At $:15 p.m. the following bids were read for sidewalk replacement:

200 - 4'x5' - $11,500.00
300 - 4'x5' -- $17,250.00

C. Smith made a motion to accept the bid from Baish Construction Co. Seconded by
J. King. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; and
Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
L. Robinson made a motion that the preliminary plat of Country Manors First Addit~Q.~
be approved. Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye;
King, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to approve the summer internship program of Michael Lambert,
Architectural Student at the University of Illinois. The internship will be monitored
by the Village Planner and expenses will be kept to a minimum. Seconded by J. Graham.
Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye.
5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
Recommendation by the Board was made for the Village Clerk to direct a letter to the
Department of Conservation in reference to the Halfway House to be listed on the
National Registery.
L. Robinson made a motion for Ann Hintze, Village Planner to attend the American
Planning Association seminar in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Thursday, June 26 through
Monday, June 29 with expenses of $40.00 for registration, $152.00 for hotel reservations
and mileage. Seconded by C. Smith. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye;
King, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
. J. King made a motion to adapt ORDINANCE ~~976, Chapter 9, Article 9, An Ordinance
banning parking at certain places within the Village. Seconded by C. Smith. Vote
by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye.
5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
C. Smith made a motion to hire Doug Almon for street patching at the rate of $7.50-
per hour. Seconded by J. King.
J. King withdrew his second.
C. Smith made a motion for the approval of Roger Varley, Lockport St. lower the grade
of his sidewalk doing all the necessary labor and the Village furnish the necessary
materials required. Seconded by L. Robinson. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham,
aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared
carried.
G. Ansley made a motion to instruct the Village Attorney to draw up an Ordinance
to erect a 3 way stop sign at the intersection of Willow Drive and Indian Boundary
Road. Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye;
Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion for Police Officer, Jeffrey Hanford to attend the Complaint
Preparation seminar, June 9, 10, and 11, Glen Ellyn, Illinois at a cost of $45.00.
Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye;
Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
Board agreed to have a study session Monday, June 9 on Village Appropriations.
L. Robinson made a motion to adopt Resolution 4802 - The McClester-Nimmons Village
of Plainfield Free Public Library, Plainfield, Will County, Illinois has determined

for the fiscal year commencing May 1, 19$0 and ending April 30, 1981 to expend
funds for the equipping, maintenance, repair and alteration of its Library
building and equipment.
