Thurso July 22, 1920.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
- in regular session in the office o f the said Board Thursday,
July 22, 1920 , at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being
present Messrs. Gilbert , Taylor, and y'el tz the following proceed--
' ings were had to-wit : -
Mr. Peitz moved that the acti on of the Board of Works Monday,
July 19th , in regard to the acceptance of the Smith-Osborn Coal
Sales Co' s. bid for 25,000 tons of Coal for The Municipal Electric
Light• & Power Plant be recinded, and that the prece-at advertise--
,
merit for 25,000 tons of coal be withdrawn, and that the Supt. of
the Light Plant be instructed to go into the open market and buy
• his coal to the best advantage and keep the Board informed of all
propositions received. Seconded by Mr. Taylor moti-on prevailed.
The Board received the complaints of Council Monday-; July 19th ,
and referred same to the City Engineer.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution 4580 - 19201
to improve the alley between Lincoln & Pearl Ste. from Test 1st to
3rd by constructing a cement roadway in said alley the full width
thereof.
The Board received a petition for the ,-a„sa e of a Resolution pro-
. vidi ng for a cement roadway in the alley 'between North "D' & "E" Si

The Board unanimously ado peed Improvement Resolution #581 - 1920
to improve the alley between North "D" & "E" Sts. from U. 22nd .
St . to .N. 23rd St. by constructing a cement roadway in said alley
the full width thereof, and of making by contract and at the omumer
expense all private connections with the sewer. .
The Board received the following communication from the nayor:

Dear Sir :
It is reported in the press that your City will install
in its I.iunicipal Electric Light and POi' er Plant a 5000 KU turbine.
As you know, delivery on this class of equiiJment is about 12 month:
We have for sale a 5000 KW turbine with condenser arid all auxil-
iaries. This equipment i8 brand new and is described on the at-
tachea sheet .
The equipment is offered to you subject to prior sale and
your insreet'i ori. We shall be pleased to give the City protection
if you deaire to have your en :itieer make an inspection of this
equipment . This is a rare chance to secure immediate delivery on
the most modern and economical type of equipment that can to boughi
to-day.

Gentlemen :
Will you kindly advi se whether you will be interest-
. ed in purchasing, absolutely new:
1 - 5000 KW, continuous capacity , Curtis Steam turbine
generating unit, 60 cycle , 3 phase , type ATB, 2 poles
rated KW capacity at 80 p.f. 5000 KW, 3600 RPM, 2300 volts , a
amps . per phase at 80% P.P. 1570, excitation at . 125 volts, 32
1 - Wheeler Condenser & Engineering Co. Service Condenser.
1 - 36" hot Well for the above condense-..
1 - 66" copper corrugated expansion joint.
1 m Wheeler rotative dry vacuum pump.
1 - Steam turbine driven circulating pump.
The above outfit is absolutely new, having never been
erected, and is ready for immediate delivery. All of the appa-
ratus was purchased on one order, and v./as designed for the par-
ticular requirments of the turbine. The steam conditi ons named
in the order were 200 pressure, 100 superheat , and 28.5" vacuum
The guaranteed water rate at full load is 13.55 per XL hour.
I have very complete detailed specifications of all
the above apparatus which I shall be pleased to submit if you
are interested.

The above correspondence was referred to Mr. Dillon, Supt. of the
Light Plant.
The Board instructed the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance
for an appropriation of y 12, 500.00 to repair & rebuild wall and
roof of the boiler room of the Municipal Electric i t & 2ower
Plant.
The Board instructed tie Bldg_. Inspector not to put O.K. tickets
on- wiring jobs until the j.ob is completed.
The Board instructed the City E,:,7.i freer to ask Supt. Gordon of
the St . Car. Co.' the to have iron trolley pO1eS on the Main Si; .
