The Board of Public works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session in the offi ce of the said Board Thurs . July 15 , 1920 , at 9 A M. All the members of the said Board being present Messrs. Gilbert, • Taylor , and Peitz the follow- ing proceedings :ere had to -wit : - The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Quigley Bros. of 1912 North "E" St. to have the. gravel and material removed from the alley at the rear of their store. The Board instructed the Clerk to write to The Dougan, Jenkins & Co. releasing the Bond of F.E.Sli ck for the Ash & Trash Con- tract with the City of Richmond. The board met to hear remonstrances if any of per: ons Fri mari.ly assessed on account of the vacation of the 2nd alley west of Sheridan st. running from Laurel St . north to the alley running east and %%'es t between Laurel & Railroad Sts . , . E. & J . Pal-lsback' Add. under Declaratory ile.;olu- on 7118-1918. No one remonstrat- - ing, the Board approved the Final Assessment Roll of Benefits & Damages confirming in all things the original assessment roll as heretofore approved, and thereu on declare said portion of said alley above designated, vacated, and now direct that a copy of said assessment roll be forthwith transmitted to the Dept. of Finance . The Board received a communication from S. W. ilodgin, Division Engineer of the P.C.C. & St. L. All the Complaints from Council of Monday, July 12th were re- ferred to the City Engi neer excepting the paving of the Street Car Company' s right-of-way on South 8th St. which was referred to the C i Ly iitt orney. The Board grantedF. E. Slick an extention of time in which to complete his contract under improvement Resolution 5r/2-1919 , until September 1st , 1920 . The Board instructed Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, to purchase from the Chenoweth Electric Service Co. 2 - 38 x 5 Firestone Cushion Tires, put on, for w129.GCi. The Board received bids for Coal for the I:1...7. & P.P. , and the CitT Bldg. as follows to-wit : - Richmond Coal Company' s bid : We agree to enter in a contract to furnish one car of Pocahontas egg and one car' of i'unitucky lump at prices delivered as directed at ; _1.00 per toil for Pocahontas egg, and 10.00 per ton for theKentucky lump. Smith-Osborn Coal Sales Company' s bid : We agree to enter in a contract to ship you approximately Thursday, July 15, 1920 . 459 twenty-five thousand ( 25,000) tons of iertucky Fun of Mine and Nut and Slack during a period of one year at 6.00 per net ton P.U.B. mines. Analysis on this coal is as follows : Moisture 3.20 Volatile Lat .- 3 .94 Carbon 52.33 I/ Ash - b®53 Sulphur 1.81 BTU 13559 If this bid is accepted it will be necessary for you to sign the same conditional contract that we have to with the mines. This -erovi des for embargoes , strikes, etc and. other causes beyond our control. The Board took the above bids under advisement until Monday' , July 19th , 1920 .
