The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Iri ana, met in regular session in the office of the said Board Monday June 14, 1920, at 9 A.M. Two of the members of the said Board being present Messrs. Taylor, and Peitz , absent Mr. Gilbert the following proceedings were had to-wit :- The Board granted Edgar W. Hawekotte permission to cut the curb for..a :10' ft driveway infront of real estate #412 S. 16th Street subject to the inspection and approval of the City Eng. In pursuance of the request of the Common Council of this city His Hon. Wm. A. Bond, Judge Pro-tem of the Wayne Circuit Court appointed Mr. Wm. M. Bailey, Er. R. J. Ridge, & Mr. Lawrence A. 'Handley, as appraisers to re-appraise the Direct Current Electrical Machinery belonging to the M.E.Z. & P.P. of tie city . of Richmond, Indiana, with a view of selling same. The Board received the following communication June 12th, 1920. To the Hon. Mayor, Board of Public Works amd Common Council, City of Richmond, Indiana. Gentlemen: The Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners respectful- ly request your Honorable body to appropriate sufficient funds (000.00) to purchase a motoX.cyele for use in the Police De- partment. Yours respectfully, Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners. W. R. Dill Presp of the Board Mr. Peitz moved that the communication be presented to Council . and that the City Atty.. be instructed to prepare an ordinance for the appropriation. Seconded by Mr. Taylor motion prevail- ed. The Clerk was instructed to notify Demas Coe to have the weeds cut on his lots 2 & 3, Scott' s Add. on South .16th St. within 10 days from receipt of notice ; also to notify the Dickinson Trust Co. to have the weeds cut along their property at South "B" & 23rd Streets. The Board decided to take up With the City Atty. the matter of the vacation of the 2nd alley west of Sheridan St. running E. & W. between lots 20 & 21 Railsback Add. under Declaratory Re- solution #118 - 1918. Mr. Peitz moved that Walter Goens be appointed Janitor of the City Bldg. beginning June 16th , 1920, Seconded by Mr. Taylor motion prevailed. The Board met to receive bids for the improvement of the north side of North "D" St. by constructing cement curb & gutter 28" inches wide' from North llth to North 12th Street under Improve- ment Resolution No. 579 - 1920. Monday, June 14, 1920 . 449 Daniel G. Burkhardt' s bid: Straight curb & gutter per linear ft. 0 1.53 Circle curb & gutter per linear ft. 1.68 No other bids being received and Yr. Burkhardt' s bid being with- in the City En`ineer' s estimate Mr. Peitz moved that the bid be accepted and the contract awarded Mr. Burkhardt. Motion pre- vailed.. I/ The Board met to receive bids for Coal & Ash Handling System for the M.E.L. & P.P. 1st Bid. : Sauerman Bros. , Chicago , Ill. bid: One complete power scraper equipment as per specification No. H- 611-R attached, 30 days net, F.O.B. Chicago , Ill. $1,932.00 2nd Bid: One Special Power Scraper Electric Hoist as per specification No. H-612-li attached, 30 days net , F.O.B. N.Y. City, 4,950.00 R. H. Beaumont Co. Philadei-hia Pa. bid: Beaumont ca e drag scraper ana eaumon skip hoist as per at- tached specifications & drawing No. 5198-5 n43,450.00 Mr. Peitz moved that the R. H. Beaumont Co' s. bid being the only bid received that met with the specifications that it be accept- ea and the contract so awarded. Seconded by Lr. Taylor motion prevailed.
