The Board of Public orks of the City of Richmond, Indiana , met in regular session in the office of said Board Thursday , May 20, 1920, at 9 A.M. Two of the members of the said Board being pre- sent Messrs. Gilbert and Taylor, absent Mr . Peltz,the following proceedings were had to-wit : - 1/ The Clerk presented the complaints from Council of Monday, May 17th, which were referred to the City Engineer, and the Clerk was instructed to notify the C . & 0. R.R. officials to have the cinders removed from the alley near the water tank east of North 2nd St. , and the T.H. I. & E. Traction Co. to repair the bad places in the streets along their right-of-way all over the city. The Board received a communication from Mr. ,Peltz,who was absent on account of sickness, which was ordered placed on file. The Board met to hear all persons interested in or whose property is affected by Improvement Resolution #578-1920 providing for the improvement of South "E" Street from South 5th St. to the East Corporation Limits of the City of Richmond, Indiana, by paving the roadway of said street in such portion thereof as is not provided for by the 3-Mile Road Proceedings for the improvement of such highway now pending before the Board of County Commissioners of Layne Co. , Ind. , such street paving to be_ of like kind as that adopted by said Board of County Commissioners, and also for the imrrovement of said street by the building of cement curb & gutter on both sides thereof. Said street to be paved with one of the following kinds of pavement to-wit : - Brick-Concrete- Creosoted Wood Block- or Bituminous Macadam on Concrete base. After hearing _ all persons interested who appeared and considering personal let- ters from A. G. Feldman, and W. P. Robinson, and no remonstrance having been filed. Mr. Taylor moved to modify the original resolu- tion to read from South 5th St. to 16th Street instead of to East Corporation Limits. Seconded by Mr. Gilbert motion prevailed. The Board decided that the benefits to property liable to be ass- essed for said improvement as modified are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer less the porti on for which the City will pay. The City agrees to pay the cost of St. & Alley intersections, and 10% of the cost of the Curb & Gutter. Mr. Taylor moved to confirm Resolution #578-1920 as modified, and for the Clerk to advertise for bids. Seconded by Er. Gilbert mo- tion prevailed. The Board met to receive bids for the improvement of alley running 1/ north & south between S. 3rd & 4th Sts. by grading, and paving the alley with concrete from South "C" to South "D" St. under Improve- ment Resolution #577-1920 : Daniel G. Burkhardt' s bid : Roadway complete per square foot $ .29¢' Sewer connections per lineal foot 0..50 No other bid being received and Er. Eurkhardt' s bid being within the City Engineer' s estimate Mr. Taylor moved that the bid be ac- cepted and the contract awarded Mr. Burkhardt. Motion prevailed. 442 Thursday, May 20 , 1920. Bills to the amount of 015,505.22 were allowed and ordered paid. The Board approved the various payrolls up to May 16th , 1920. The Board then adjourned. crIgZ0,4 W., tab c Pres. of the Board . The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana , met in regular session in the office of the said Board Monday, May 24, 1920, at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being present Messrs. Gilbert, Taylor, and Peitz , the following pro - ceedings were had to-wit : - The Board approved and signed the Contract & Bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt, Contractor , under Improvement Resolution #577-1920. Chas. Jordon appeared before the Board in the-. interest of the - Chautauoua Association asking that the Board renew the associa- tion' s contract with the City for a period of five ( 5) years. Taken under advisement . Upon the recommendation of Wm. Hunt , Market Master, Mr. Peitz - moved that the City reserve the right to reject all bids under yp20.O0 for inside stalls at the market house, )7.50 for stalls under the eaves, and 5.00 on the curb. Seconded by Mr. Taylor motion prevailed. - The Board then adjourned. Pres. of the Board. Attest : - Clerk of the Board.
