Regular Meeting
DATE: August 20, 1979 AT: V illage Hall
MEMBERS 0~' BOARD PRESENT: Trustees, G. Ansley, J. D'Arcy, J. King,
D. Rife, L. Robinson. President Selfridge,
Trustee, S. Yates were absent.
In the absence of Village President, R, Selfr idge,.Trustee, G. Ansley
(longest term member) called the meeting to order at 7:3 0 p.m. with
the fledge to the flag. Roll call was taken. President Selfridge and
Trustee, S. Yates were absent,
D. Rife made a motion Helen Leidig be r.etain,ed ~.as Village .Cl;erk an a
part time basis at a rate of $6,50 per hr. Seconded by J. King. Vote
by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rif e, aye; Robinson,
aye: Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared c.arr ied.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to approve current invoices for payment as
presented. Secanded by D. Rif e. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy,
aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Five ayes, no nays. Motion
declared carried .'
The Treasurer's Report was submitted.
L, Robinson made a motion the next Board meeting be scheduled September 4,
1979 due to the holiday. Seconded by J. D'Arcy, Mation declared cart ied.
D, Rife made a motion an ..extension of one year be granted to Plainf ield
North Subdivision preliminary plat review. Seconded by J. King. Vote by
roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rif e, aye; Robinson, aye.
Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to approve request of Christian Youth Center, Joliet,
to perform some specific work pra,~ect in our Village approximately the
middle of September to raise funds for the Youth Center. Seconded by
L, Robinson. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to pass a Resolution declaring September 26, 1979
"Caterpillar Day" in recognition of Caterpillar Tractor's fourth
''Salute to Industry", Secanded by J. King. Motion declared carried.
At 8:00 p.m. bhe following bids were opened and read by the Village Clerk
for Municipal Parking Lot Improvements:

D. Rife made a motion to award the bid. to the low bidder, Peterson Blacktop
Pav ing Company at a total bid of $18,417.00 with the understanding the
project be completed by October 31, 1979. Vote .by roll call: Ansley, aye;
D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rif e, aye; Robinson, aye, Five ayes, no nays. Mat ion
declared carried..
J, D"Arcy made a motion Case No. 53-42578AZ, River Ridge Estates Annexation
Agreement be discussed at the Study Session, Tuesday, August 21, 1979 with
action to be tabled until the next Board meeting. Seconded by D, Rif e.
Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rif e, aye; Robinson,
aye.. Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
L. Robinson made a motion tv authorize Tom Meff erd to attend Nuclear Planning
Seminar, Monticello,. Illinois September 10-14. Seconded by J. King. Motion
declared carried.
J. D'Arcy made a motion the Village will pay one-half of replacanent sidewalk
and .:pay 50%:of cost:.of...maintenance of sidewalk at V illage's discretion.
Seconded by D. Rif e. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, nay;
Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Four ayes, one nay. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 951, "Tax Levy Ordinance, 1979-1980",
Chapter 11, Article 3, Section 3--22 of the Codified Ordinances of the Village of
Plainf field. Seconded by>-D. Rif e, Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye;
King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared
carried ..
J. King made a motion to authorize issuance of a check in the amount of $3,500.00
as V illage"s share to ESDA, Seconded by L. Robinson. Vote by roll call:

~D. Rife made a motion to pay Lynn Friedrich 3'~ days pro rated vacation
pay and 7% retroactive pay to July 1, 1979 a total of $130.92. Seconded
by J., King.. Vote by roll call: Ansley,, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye;
Rif e, aye;. Robin son, aye, Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J« King made a motion that the residents along Renwick Road on the South
side from Route 59 to Route 30 not be required to 'pay taxes against the
Village for five years providing they consent to sign annexation
agreements.. Seconded by. L. Robinson. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye;
D"Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rif e, aye; Robinson, aye. Five ayes, no nays.
Motion declared carried..
