Mom. Mar. 22, 1920.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in the office of said Board Monday, Mar.
22, 1920 , at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being
present Messrs. Gilbert, Taylor,_ and Peitz the following pro-
ceedings were had to-wit :--
The Board received a complaint from Walter E. Shute in regard
to the Richmond Piston Ring Co. blocking NW. 7th St. The
Clerk was instructed to have the Police Dept. notify said Co.
to cease blocking the thoroughfare.
The Board meets to hear remonstrances if any of persons Pri-
marily Assessed on account of the vacation of the 1st north
of Richmond Ave. from NW. 7th St. to Sedgwick St. in the rear
of Lots 12 to 18 inclusive, also the alley running north and
south between NW. 7th St. and. Sedgwick St. in the rear of Lots
19 to 26 inclusive, A.W.Gregg' s Sub-Div. of the Pleasant Hill
Add. under Declaratory Resalut.ion f138-1920 . No one remon-
strating the_ Board approved the Final Assessment Roll of Bene-
fits & Damages confirming in all things the original assessment
roll heretofore .approved, and thereupon declare said portion
of said alleys above designated vacated, and now direct that a
copy of saisi assessment roll be forthwith transmitted to the
Dept.. of Finance.
The Board instructed the Clerk to ask the Mayor to call a
Special Session of Council Wednesday, March 24th, 1920, at the
hour of 7:30 P.M.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution #573-1920
providing for a cement roadway in the alley between S. 2nd &
3rd Streets running from S."A" St. north to the 1st alley south
of Main St. ; thence east. to S. 3rd St. and west to S. 2nd St.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution #574-1920
to improve the 'lst alley south of West Main St. from W. let St.
to W. 2nd St. by grading and paving the alley with concrete the
full width thereof.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution #575-1920
to improve N."A" St. from N. 2nd to N. 3rd St. and N. 2nd St.
from N."A" St. north on N. 2nd to a point where the C. & 0. R.
R. tracks cross F. 2nd St. by constructing cement sidewalk 6 ft.
wide, cement driveway curb, and curb & gutter, and paving the
roadway with one of the following kinds of modern city pavement
to-wit :- Cement, Brick , Asphalt , or Wood-block .
The Board received a petition for the passage of a Resolution
providing for a cement roadway in the alley between S. 12th &
13th Sts. .from S. "A" St. to S. "B" St. signed by Dr. E. E.
Townsend and eleven (11) others.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution #576-1920
to improve the alley between S. 12th & 13th Ste. by constructing
a cement roadway in said alley the full width thereof from S.
Monday, March 22, 1920.
"Af" St. to South "B" St.
The Board received bids for the cleaning and painting of the City
Bldg. as follows to-wit : -
James S. Logan' s bid:
I propose to paint and varnish the City Bldg. as per specifi-
cations , furnish all labor and material to do the entire job for the
11 sum of ( Two Thousand One Hundred Twenty-one & 60/100 :Dollars )
2,121.60.
Will paint same as above , labor only for the sum of ( One
Thousand Four Hundred Six & 65/100 Dollars ) 0. 1,406.66.
George P. Har_er' s bid :
I , the undersigned , agree to paint the walls and ceilings,
including Firemen' s sleeping apartment , at the City Bldg. , will
• wash all wood-work and furniture, and varnish same , will stop all
cracks and holes in walls and ceilings, touch up same and give 2
coats of Lowe Brothers Me1•lotone or BLlydsall' a Ooditic Flat Oil
Paint.
Window sills to he filled and gi oen 2 coats of Spar Varnish ,
• all exterior windows and doors to be given 2 coats of paint , the
best material . Will do the same in a good workman like manner, re-
putty all cash where putty is loose or off, and putty other defects,
With labor and. material 0 1,531.00
Deduct for material -• 363.00
Mr. Peitz moved that George F. Haner' s bid of 01,531.00 be accept-
• ea and the contract awarded him. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered.
Bills to the amount of $6, 766.03 were allowed and ordered paid.
The Board approved the vari ou s pay rolls up to Mar. 20th , 1920 .
The Board then. adjourned.
