Regular Meeting

MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: President Selfridge, Trustees, G. Ansley,
G. Beahm, J. D'Arcy, J. King, D. Rife were
present. Trustee L. Robinson was absent
President Selfridge called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the
Pledge to the Flag.. Roll call was taken. Trustee L. Robinson was
absent.
D. Rife made a motion to approve payment of current invoices as
presented. Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm,
aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Five ayes, no nays. Mohan
declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to purchase a City Directory, which includes
Plainfield, at a cost of $50.00. Seconded by J. D'Arcy. Vate by roll
call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Five
ayes,. no nays. Mahon declared carried.
The Treasurer's Report was submitted.
J. King made a motian to accept letter of resignation from Walter
Carlton, Dispatcher. Seconded by D. Rife. Mohan declared carried.
J. King made a motion to hire Edwin Bennett as Dispatcher under CETA program
at a salary of $3.00 per hour. Seconded by D. Rife. Vote by tall call:
Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Five ayes, no
nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to pay Kale Uniforms $200.00 on account and reimburse
G. Donisch $1b0.65 and M. Baish $273.71 for uniforms. Seconded by G. Beahm.
Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife,
aye.. Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to pay liability insurance for Chief, Sergeant and
full time Officers at $182.25 per person, per year. Seconded by G. Ansley.
Vate by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife,
aye. Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to re-advertise for the next two weeks for bids
for Parking Lot Xmpravements - Village Hall with bids to be opened June
5, 1978 at $:00 p.m. Seconded by G. Beahm. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye;

D. Rife made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 910, "An Ordinance Amending
Ord. 674 Anal Providing That Parking Spaces Required Tn Residence A-2, A-3
and A-4 Zoning Districts Be Provided At The Rear Of The Property", Chapter
8, Article 6, Section 6-15 of the Codified Ordinances of the Village of
Plainfield. Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye;
D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared
carried.
G. Beahm, made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 911, "An Ordinance Amending
Chapter 8, Article 6, Section 6-i2 (Ord. No. 674)" of the Codified
Ordinances of the Village of Plainfield. Seconded by D. Rife. Vote by roll
call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Five ayes,
no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 912, "An Ordinance Amending
Chapter 8, Article 6, Section 6-12 & 6-13 (Ord. No. 674" of the Codified
Ordinances of the Village of Plainfield. Seconded by D. Rife. Vote by roll
call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Five ayes,
no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 913, "An Ordinance Amending
Chapter 7, Article 5, Section 5-2-1-22 (a) (Amendment To The Electrical
Code)". Seconded by G. Beahm. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Behhm,
aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared
carried.
G. Ansley made a motion to authorize Attorney to negotiate for the berry
contract with Distiller's, Ltd. Seconded by J. D'Arcy. Motion declared
carried.
G. Ansley made a motion to change from the cash to accrual method of accounting
for water & sewer. Seconded by .T. D'Arcy. Motion declared carried.
At 8:00 p.m, the fallowing bid was read for Michigan Avenue Sanitary Sewer
Extension:
Sanitary sewer main: 293 lin. ft. 8-inch clay pipe
@ $20.00 per lin. ft. $5,860.00
1 each Type A Manhole, 4'-0"
@ $800.00 each 800.00

J. King made a motion to accept the bid. Seconded by G. Ansley. Motion
declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to return the bid check and readvertize the bid
in THE ENTERPISE with bids to be opened June 5, 1978. Seconded by
J. D'Arcy. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to accept the Zoning Board of Appeals Report.
Seconded by G. Ansley. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to grant sign size variance far Nabby's Restaurant
with the provision it be scaled down to 30 sq. ft. and this to be the
only sign on the premises. Secanded by J. D'Arcy. Vote by roll call:
Ansley, aye; Beahm, nay, D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Four ayes,
one nay... Motion declared carried.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to accept agreement with Trinity Midwest
Corporation relative to pre-planning water & sewer, legal and engineering.
Seconded by G. Beahm. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy,
aye; King, aye; Rife, aye. Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
G. Ansley made a motion to table request for pole building construction
in Res. A District by Jesse Albright. Seconded by G. Beahm. Motion
declared carried.
On motion meeting ad,jaurned to an Executive Session to discuss land
acquisition.
