Regular Meeting

MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: Complete Board Present
President Selfridge called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with fhe Pledge
to the Flag. Roll call was taken. All members of the Board were present.
Pr.~sident Selfridge .made the following appointments:
Collector: Helen Leidig
Superintendent - Water & Sewer: Joseph Bennett
Director, Civil Defense: Thomas Mefferd
Consulting Engineer: Walter E. Deuchler Associates, Inc.
Attorney: Richard T. Buck
D. Rife made a motion to approve the appointments as presented. Seconded by
J. D'Arcy. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King,
aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a .motion to apprave minutes of April 3rd and April 17th meetings
as printed. Seconded by J. D'Arcy. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to approve sending two members of Civil Defense to
Emergency Rescue Technicians School at Joliet .junior College at a total cost
of $84.00. Seconded by L. Robinson. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm,
aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinsan, aye. Six ayes, no nays.
.Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to authorize President and Clerk to execute documents
of estimate of cost ~o request Matar Fuel Tax Funds for improvements for
Commercial and Fax River Streets. Seconded by J. D'Arcy. Vote by roll call:
Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye.
Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to accept letter of resignation from Bonnie Cooper,
Police Dispatcher. Seconded by D. Rife. Motion declared carried.
The Public Hearing scheduled for Annexatian Petition, River Ridge Estates,
was continued to next Village Board meeting, .May 15, 1978.
G. Ansley made a motion to hire Lynn Friedrich part time in Clerk's affice
8 hrs. per week at $3.25 per hour. Seconded by D. Rife. Vote by roll call:

Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.

J. D'Arcy made a motion to accept the three Plan Commission Reports.
Seconded by G. Beahm. Motion declared carried.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to approve recommendation of Plan Commission
to amend Sec.. .6-30 of Chapter 8, Article 6 of the Code of Ordinances
of The Village of Plainfield, Ordinance No. 674. Seconded by G. Beahm.
Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye;
Rife, aye; Robinson, aye.. Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 909, "An Ordinance Amending
The Powers Of The Board Of Appeals Of The Village Of Plainfield, Will
County, Illinois", Chapter 8, Article b, Section 6-30 of the Code of
Ordinances of the Village of Plainfield. Seconded by D. Rife. Vote by
roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye;
Robinson, aye. Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to approve recommendation of Plan Commission to amend
Section 6-12 of Chapter 8, Article 6 of the Code of Ordinances of The
Village of Plainfield, Ordinance No. 674 (open space and side yard
requirements) and .Section 6-15 of same Ordinance (parking spaces -.Red. A-~,
A-3 and A-4 zoning districts). Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote by roll call

At 8:00 p.m. the Clerk read the fallowing and only bid received for Parking

D. Rife made a motion to re-advertise far parking lot improvements with bids
to .be opened Monday, May 15, 197$ at 8:00 p.m.. Seconded by J. King. Motion
declared carried.
Mayor Selfridge appointed Arlo Simmons, Lorin Robinson and Guy Beahm as a
Committee to set up a meeting with the Village of Shorewood and bring back
report relative to boundary agreement.
G. Ansley made a motion to reimburse P..Mumford, Fisher Scientific Company,
$27.98. for testing purposes, Sewer Flant. Seconded by L. Robinson.. Vote by
roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson,
aye. Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.

L. Robinson made a motion to authorize Gene Gordon to apply for NPDES permit
to change effluent limitations. Seconded by D. Rife. Motion declared
carried.
The Audit Report No, 30 covering. the receipt and disbursement of Motor Fuel
Tax funds by the Village far the period January 1, 1976 thru December 30,
1976 was submitted.
G. Ansley made a motion to advertise for Michigan Avenue Sanitary Sewer
Extension with .b ids to be opened May l5, 1978 at 8:00 p.m. Seconded by
D. Rife. Motion declared carried.
On motion meeting adjourned at 9:04 p.m. to an Executive Session to discuss
personnel and reconvene thereafter.
President opened the adjourned meeting at 10;.15 p.m.
J. King made a motion to hire Andru Vanderlei as a full time dispatcher under
the CETA program. Seconded by D. Rife. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye;
Beahm, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Six ayes, no
nays. Motion declared carried.
