Regular Meeting
DATE: February 20, 1978 .AT: Village Hall
MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: President Selfridge, Trustees, G• Ansley,
J. D'Arcy, J. King, D. Rife, L. Robinson
were present. Trustee G. Beahm was absent.
President Selfridge called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the
Pledge to the Flag. Roll call was taken. Trustee G. Beahm was absent.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to approve payment of current invoices as
presented. Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye;
D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Five ayes, no nays.
Motion declared carried.
The Treasurer's Report was submitted.
G. Ansley made a motion. to authorize D. Rife to go ahead with preparation
of Motor Fuel Tax funds for maintenance of streets in the spring. Seconded
by L. Robinson. Motion declared carried,
D. Rife made a motion to have Ordinance drafted by Attorney to allow no
parking on North side of Amboy Street. Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll
call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Five
ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
A report from the Plan Commission was submitted.
J. King made a motion to accept the report of the Plan Commission. Seconded
by L. Robinson. Motion declared carried.
No formal action was taken an the Plan Commission"s recommendation and it
was tabled until next Board meeting.
D, Rife made a motion to approve Audit Report for fiscal year July 1, 1976
through June 30, 1977. Seconded by J. D'Arcy. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye;
D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Five ayes, no nays. Motion
declared carried.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to pass a Resolution approving reallocation of
appropriated monies of Plainfield Free Public.Library. Seven thousand
dollars ($7,000.00 ~o Equipment Account.. Two thousand dollars ($2,000.00)
to Materials and Books Account. Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote by roll call:
Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye, Five ayes,
no nays. Motion declared carried,

J. D'Arcy made a motion the Village Office hours be established effective March 1,
1978 from 9:00 a.m, to 5:00 p:.m. 21or~day f'hru.Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to
12:00 Noon on Saturdays. Seconded by D. Rife. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion permitting the Village Offices to close on Good Friday
and Veteran's Day and these to not be paid Holidays. Seconded by J. D'Arcy.
Motion declared carried.
On motion meeting adjourned to an Executive Session to discuss personnel
at 8:1.5 p.m. to reconvene when completed.
President Selfridge reconvened the Board meeting at 9:00 p.m.
J. King made a motion to accept Police Department established personnel
list. Seconded by D. Rife. Motian declared carried.
J. King made a motion to employ Greg Chapman as full time Police Officer
at a salary of $12,000.00 per year effective March 6, 1978. Seconded by
D. Rife. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye;
Robinson, aye. Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.

at no cost to Village. Motion not completed due to lack of second.
L. Robinson made a motion to grant purchase of telephone instrument for
Clerk's office which had been previously transferred to Civil Defense
Department. Seconded by D. Rife. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy,
aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. .five ayes, no nsys. Motion declared
carried.
On motion meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
