Mr. Gilbert moved that the City Engineer write the Board of Vorks at Ft . Wayne, Ind. to ascertain whose duty it is to take care of the red lights on their city' s Right & Left street signs. Second- ed by Mr. Taylor Motion prevailed. The Board then adjourned. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session ih the office of said Board Monday, Dec. 8 , 1919, at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being present Messrs. Gilbert , Taylor, and Peitz, the following proceedings were had to-wit: - The Board instructed the Engineer to have the St . Dept. repair North `°F" St. , and other streets in the Stock Yard district. The Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. F. E. Slick , trash con- tractor, that the Board has refused to allow his monthly bill of 01249.16 until the congestion of the trash in the City has been taken care of in a business like way. Also to notify his bondsmen , Dougan, Jenkins & 'Co. as Agents for the Bonding Co. that his monthly trash contract bill has been withheld until he has complied with his Contract. The complaint against Ed. Strothaus, fireman at No. 3 Hose House was referred to the Fire Chief Mr. Miller. I.Tr. Miller, Fire Chief, informed the Board that he had appointI/ - ed Esmond Lee, and Fred Duvall on the City Fire Force. The Board approved the appointments. Mr. Gilbert moved that the Police Board be instructed that it will be necessar y for the Police Dept to look after the Red - Lanterns on the Right & Left signs. This is in accordance with the practice of other Cities throughout the State. Seconded by Mr. Taylor motion prevailed. P.tonday, December 8 , 1919 . 387 Bills to the amount of 3,362.39 were allowed and ordered paid. The Board approved the various payrolls up to December 1, 1919. The Board then adjourned. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of said Board Thursday, Dec.11, - 1919 , at 9 A. I. All the members of the said Board being present Messrs. Gilbert, Taylor, and Peitz , the following proceedings were had to-wit : - The Board meets to hear remonstrances and take final action on Declaratory Resolution #137-1919 to widen South "E" Street on the north side from South 16th Street east to the west line of Lot 52, Reeveston Addition. No one appearing and no remonstrance having been filed against said proposed widening thereupon being fully advised in the matter the Board takes Final Action on said resolution confirming without modification all former action taken on same, and the Board now orderes that a list or roll be prepared of all owners or holders of property, and all valuable interests therein sought to be taken or to be injuriously affect- ed , which list or roll shall also describe the property benefici- ally affected . The Board approved the Contract & Bond signed by John Zwissler as principal , and the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Co. as sure- ty in the matter of installing a gasoline, oil, & air dispenser infront of his place of business at #28 South 5th Street. ( See Contract & Bond. ) I/ Mr. Peitz informed the Board that the Mutual Fire Insurance Co. agreed to donate to the City the furniture , and stove on the 2nd floor at #4 Hose House providing that it will be left there so that the hall can be used for public meetings. Mr. Peitz moved that the donation be accepted, and the Clerk instructed to write J. Henry Bode, Sec 'y of the insurance company thanking him for their generosity. Motion prevailed. Mr. Gilbert moved that the 'bill of F. E. Slick, trash contractor, for 1249.16 for the month of Nov. 1919 be allowed and ordered - paid, Seconded by Mr. Peitz motion prevailed.
