The Board instructed WM. Hunt, market master, to have Wm. Ward re-
pair the City Scales.
Mr. Bentley, Supt. of Public Schools, appeared before the Board
requesting that "go slow" signs be placed at the approaches to
the public schools. On motion. of Mr. Peitz the City Engineer was
instructed to get an estimate on such signs.
I/ The Board instructed the Bldg. Inspector to have the roof of the
Crematory repaired, also to have windows in the basement of the
City Bldg. covered with metal sheeting.
Mr. Feltz moved that Mr. Rodefeld, City Attorney Byram Robbins,
and Mr. Gardner of the City Planning Commission by notified to ap-
pear before the Board at 9 :30 A.M. Thursday, December 4th to take
up property matter. Seconded by Mr. Gilbert.
The Board granted Katherine Forrester of #126 Randolph St . the
privilege of gardening space along 1st St. opposite alley between
Lincoln & Pearl Streets, also Frank Treep the same privilege of
lots 6 to 14 inclusive, Ft. Wayne Sub-Div. for the season of 1920.
The Board then adjourned.

The Board of Public Works of the City of Ric .hond, Indiana, met
• in regular session. in the office of said Board Thursday, Dec. 4,
1919 , at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being present
Messrs. Gilbert, Taylor, and Peitz , the following proceedings
1/ Were had to-wit: -
The Clerk presented the complaints from Council Monday, Dec. lst,
The Board referred the matter of the electric wire to Mr. Dillon
and of the trash to Mr. Wessel.
Pursuant to postponement to this date the Board meets to hear re-
monstrances and take final action on Declaratory Resolution r129-
1919 to open and extend South 5th St. from S."H" to S."I`T. Mr.
Davis City Engineer, informed the Board that Mr. B.A.Kennepohl of
the S.S. I.A. requested that the hearing be postponed a month. Mr.
3E36 Thursday, December 4, 1919. .
Peitz moved that the hearing be postponed until Monday, Jan. 5,
1920. Secondea by Mr. Taylor motion prevailed .
Mr. Gilbert moved that the City Engineer write the Board of Works
at Ft . Wayne, Ind. to ascertain whose duty it is to take care o_f
the red lights on their city' s Right & Left street signs. Second-
ed by Mr. Taylor Motion prevailed.
The Board then adjourned.

The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session ih the office of said Board Monday, Dec. 8 ,
1919, at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being present
Messrs. Gilbert , Taylor, and Feltz , the following proceedings
were had to-wit: -
The Board instructed the Engineer to have the St . Dept. repair
North "F" St. , and other streets in the Stock Yard district.
The Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. F. E. Slick , trash con-
tractor, that the Board has refused to allow his monthly bill
of 1249.16 until the congestion of the trash in the City has
been taken care of in a business like way. Also to notify his
bondsmen , Dougan, Jenkins & Co. as Agents for the Bonding Co.
that his monthly trash contract bill has been withheld until he
has complied with his Contract.
The complaint against Ed. Strothaus, fireman at No. 3 Hose House
was referred to the Fire Chief Mr. Miller.
Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, informed the Board that he had appoint I/

ed Esmond Lee, and Fred Duvall on the City Fire Force. The
Board approved the appointments.
Mr. Gilbert moved that the Police Board be instructed that it
will be necessar y for the Police Dept to look after the Red
- Lanterns on the Right & Left signs. This is in accordance with
the practice of other Cities throughout the State. Seconded by
Mr. Taylor motion prevailed.
