Regular Meeting
DATE: September 19, 1977
AT: Village Hall
MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: President Selfridge, Trustees, G. Ansley,
G. Beahm, J. King, D. Rife, L. Robinson
were present. Trustee, J. D'Arcy was absent.
President Selfridge called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m with the Pledge
to the Flag. Roll call was taken. Trustee J. D'Arcy was absent.
Treasurer announced copies of his report would be su~~m.itted to each Board
member as' soon. as copy mach.in~ -is in working order.
Ed Schrader appeared on behalf of the Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department
requesting the temporary closing. of the 600 block on Desplaines Street to
thru traffic and restricted parking in the 600 - 700 block of Desplaines
Street and Village Parking Lot, Sunday, October 16, 1977 in observance of
Fire Prevention Week for display of fire fighting equipment. The Board
granted permission for the request between the hours of 12:00 Noon and
6:00 p.m. of that day.
Knights of Columbus requested November 4 & 5, 1977 as Tootsie Roll Sales
Days for mentally retarded. Permission was granted to solicit on those
days in Plainfield.
G. Beahm made a motion to authorize the purchase of a chalk/cork bulletin
board with two easels at approximately $100.00. Seconded by J. King. Vote
by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye.
Five ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
G. Beahm made a motion relative to wages as follows: Retroactive to July 1,
1.977; Water & Sewer Department - $542.00 per pay or twenty four (24) pays
per year with $6.25 per hour as hourly wage. Joe Sennett - $641.00 to
$677.00 per pay. Police Department $542.00 per pay or twenty four (24)
pays per year with $6.25 per ho.ur.as hourly wage and six (6) paid. holidays
per year. Hourly full time employees - $.10 per hour increase with six
(6) paid holidays per year. Seconded by L. Robinson. Vote by roll call:
Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Five ayes,
no nays. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to send three auxiliary policemen to Firearms School
at a cost of $25.00 each. Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote by roll call: Ansley,
aye; Beahm, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Five ayes, no nays.
Motion declared carried.

G. Ansley made a motion to authorize $98.00 annual contribution to
NIPC. Seconded by G. Beahm. Vote by roll call: .Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye;
King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. five ayes, no nays. Motion declared
carried.
On motion meeting adjourned at $:15 p.m. to an Executive Session to discuss
personnel.
