PLAINFIEDL VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
.Regular Meeting
DATE: August 1, 1977 AT: Village Hall
MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: All members of Board were present.
President Selfridge called the meeting to order at 7:.30 p.m. with the
Pledge to the flag. Roll call was taken. All members of the Board were
present.
J. D'Arcy made a oration to approve minutes of July 11th, 1$th and 25th
meetings as printed. Seconded by D. Rife. Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to approve payment of current invoices as presented.
Seconded by J. D'Arcy. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye;
D'Arcy, aye; King, aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Six ayes, no nays.
Motion declared carried.
D. Rife made a motion to approve a request frazn Betty :Harris for an
oversize sign at 219 Main Street. Seconded by J. King. Motion declared
carried.
The Plainfield Women's .Civic Organization was granted permission to hold
a Christmas. Parade Saturday, December 3, 1977 at 11:00 a.m.
The Electrical Code was discussed. The Village Attorney was instructed
to have Code ready for approval for next Board meeting.
G. Ansley made a motion to not purchase a postage machine from Pitney-Bowes
Carp. at this time. Seconded by G. Beahm. Motion declared carried.
L. Robinson made a motion to not issue an additional liquor license at this
time. Seconded by G. Beahm. Motion declared carried.
G. Ansley made a motion to invoice Distiller's Ltd. for operation and
maintenance charges for handling of berries plus depreciation reserve, a
total amount of $2,801.25. Seconded by D. Rife. Motion declared carried.
It was agreed the 1973 Plymouth squad car be retained for Village use with
Trustee Rife in charge. Clerk was instructed to check on liability insurance
coverage and order lllinais license plates.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to pass Ordinance No. $97, "An Ordinance For The
Levying And .Assessing Of Taxes For The Current Fiscal Year Of The Village
Of Plainfield, Will County, Illinois, Beginning July 1, 1977", Chapter 11

Article III, Section 3-20 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of
Plainfield. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; A'Arcy, aye;
Rife, aye; Robinson, aye.. Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
G. Ansley made a motion to advertise for bids for gas, oil, lubrication,
minor repairs and emergency road .service for Village owned vehicles with
bids to be opened Monday August 29, 1977. Seconded by L. Robinson.
Motion declared carried.
It was announced the first Board meeting in September will beheld Monday,
September 12, 1977.
D. Rife made a motion for Village to obtain and pay for notorization fees of
f1Ve members of the Annexation Sub-committee (Beahm, Robinson, Leidig,
Sebastiano and Simmons) with each member paying for their own seals.
Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; King,
aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
A letter of resignation from Charles Fish, Chief of Police, was read.
Personal reasons were stated in the letter as his reason for resigning and
the resignation to be effective August 1, 1977.
J. King made a motion to accept the resignation. Seconded by G. Beahm.
D. Rife passed. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to enroll Debra Lantz on Village health insurance plan.
Seconded by J. D'Arcy. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Beahm, aye; King,
aye; Rife, aye; Robinson, aye. Six ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
A letter firom Zone Mueller, representing the Plainfield Historical Society,
was read. Preservation of the Old Village Hall is favored by this
organization. No formal action was taken.
On motion meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
