The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of said Board Monday, September 8, 1919 , at 9 A.M. A11 the members of the said Board being pre- - sent Messrs. Gilbert, Taylor, and Peitz the following proceedings were had to-wit:- - - Mr. F. P. Wilson appeared before the Board requesting that North "G" St. between 16th & 17th Sts. be given some gravel or cinders, also complained of the sewer_ on Park Place. These matters were I/ referred to the Engineer, and St. Commissioner. The Board meets to hear remonstrances if any of persons primar- ily assessed on account of the construction of the cement road- way in alley between South 13th & 14th Sts, from 1st alley south of Main running east and west to South "A" St. under Improvement - Resolution #562-1919. No one appearing or remonstrating the Board approved. the Final Assessment Roll confirming in all things the Original Assessment Roll as heretofore approved, and now direct the same to be transmitted forthwith to the Dept. of Finence0 The Board approved the Primary Assessment Roll in the matter of the improvement of South 9th St. from South "E" St to the South Corporation Limits by paving the roadway with concrete on such por- tion of said street as is not improved under the provision of the - 3-Mile Road Law under Improvement Resolution #558-1919. The Board received a communication from Fred H. Lemon in reply to a letter from the Board of Sept. 4th relative to the pollution of the water of Glen Miller Park lake, which was referred tothe City Engineer, and Park Supt. for investigation regarding the subject. The Board received a petition for the passage of a resolution pro- viding for the paving of North 3rd St. from Main to "D" St. , sign- ed by Swayne, Robinson & Co. , and The Hayes Track Appliance Co. On motion the Board on account of the lateness of the season laid same over until the early spring.The Board instructed the Park upt. to have the dead limbs removed from the Catalpa Tree Grove- in Glen Miller Park. The Board instructed the Supt. of the Light Plant to give the St. Car Co. a release from any damage caused from the City' s Stop & Go Sign at the corner of 8th & Main Sts. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify John Evans to have the weeds cut on the lot east of the Margaret Smith Home on East Main Street. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Harry Wessel to have the trash removed fromthe alley between North 8th & 9th from B. to C. The Board received bids for the reroofing of the M.E.L. & P.P. boiler room as follows to-wit: Vinzent H. Juerling' s bid: Green Slate, first quality 3797.65 Certaomteed Roofing 3449.35 • , --- - Monday, September 8, 1919. 355 Neponset Roofing y$3495.95 Asbestos Shingles 3943.50 Dietrich Hasecoster's bid: Green slate, first quality, 12 x_ 20 $4132.50 Cettainteed roofing, 3-ply- 3743.65 Neponset Roofing 3862.25 Keesbey and Matison asbestos shingles, gray, 16x16 4346.95 After considering the bids, on motion the Board decided that the bid of Vinzent H. Juerling for Green:Slate, first quality, of $3797.65 be accepted and he be awarded the contract. • Nimrod Johnson, Supt of the . Light,Heat,& Power Co. appeared be- fore the Board with a communication from K. C. Crick of the Logan Gas Co. advising the Light,? Heat & Power Co. that the rates will be increased October 1st, 1919. Bills to the amount of $7,854.99 were allowed and ordered paid. The Board approved the various. payrolls up to Sept. 6th, 1919.
