HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-21-1919 Office of the Board of Public Yorks 349 City of ..lichmond , Indiana, August 21, 1919 . - The Beard. of Public V:ork: of the City of L1ichmond, Indiana , met in -regular session 7.n the office of said Board Thursday, August 21, 1919 , at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being yresent Messrs. Gilbert , Taylor, and Peitz , the following proceedings were had to-wit :- - The Board meets to hear remonstrances if any of persons Primarily Assessed on account of the vacation of the 2nd alley south of Main St. between lots 2 & 3, C. Bond' s Add. running from the west side of South 7th St. to the 1st alley west running north & south between 6th & 7th its. under Declaratory ilesolution ido. 123-1919 . Mr.Peltz moved that final action be postponed until Monday, August 25th, at 9 A.M. Seconded by -r. Taylor so ordered. Mr. Hunt reported to the Board that it was a unanimous vote by all the gardeners as yell as the public that the present hour of 6:30 A.M. for the opening of the East End Market is most satisfactory. Mr. Peitz moved that the report of Mr. hunt be accepted, and the opening hour- remain. the same as at the present time the remainder of the season. - -Seco-n-ded by :r_r. Taylor mo-ti-en prevailed. The Board received a letter from E. V. Clark, Manager of the India- napolis Branch of the A_nerica.n Surety Co. in regard to the cancell- ation of the Bond of the Hatfield Electric Co. to the City of nich- mond for the installation of boilers & stokers at the M. E. L. & P. P. , also a letter from Mr. Dillon, Supt. of the M.B.L. & P.F. in- forming them that the Hatfield Electric Co. have completed the in- stallation of boilers & stokers in accordance with the terms of their contract , and it will be all right to authorize the release of their bond. Mr. Feltz moved that the Clerk inst-act the american Surety Co. to cancell said bond. The Clerk presented the compla.ihts from Council of Aug. 18th. i7hieh were referred to the xnrineer.. The Clerk was instructed to notify P. J. Stimson, Supt . of the Mich-- mond Division of the .P.C.C. & St. L. n.n. to have their over head - bridge on North-west 5th Street repaired. The City Engineer reported the completion of the Contract winderim- provement Mlesoluti on No . 567-1919 . Mr. Peitz moved that it be ac- cepted , and the Clerk ordered to prepare the Assessment doll. Seconded by Mr . Taylor so ordered. The Clerk was instructed to notify V infield S . Garner, of 104 North 18th Street to have the sidewalk infrent of his property repaired. The Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the new roof for boiler room of the M.E.L. & 2.2. according to the specifications -furnished by the Supt . J. . Dillon. Mr. Peitz moved. that under the instruction of the Engineer the polio Dept . place lines on streets for parking purposes . The Board instructed the Engineer to purchase eight ( 8 ) Keep-to-the- 350 Thursday, August 21, 1919 . Might signs for the City . The Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. Gordon, Supt -of the Mich- mond Division of the I. H. I. & E. Traction Co. to Lave the com- pany` L: track drains kept open, and the brick street:' along ,their right-of-way repaired at once. Bills to the amount of 4, 553.75 were allowed and ordered paid. The Board approved the various payrolls up to August 16th , 1919 . The Board then adjourned. Pres . of the Board. All the members of the said Board being present Messrs. Gilbert , Taylor , and. Pelts the follo-aing proceedings were had to-wit :- The Board ap :roved the ' Primary Assessment Noll in the matter of Improvement Aetiolution 567-1919 providing for the construction of a cement roadway in the alley between North 2Oth & 21st Streets from the 1st alley north of Main Street running east and west to North "C" Street. Pursuant t0 continuation to this date the Board meets to hear re- monstrances if any of persons primarily assessed on account of - the vecation of the end alley south of iain wt . between lots 2 & - 5, C . iondf s Add. from the west si.d-e of. South 7th St. to the 1st alley vest running north and south between 6th & 7th Sts.. under Declaratory resolution No. 123-1919 , no one remonstrating the Joard al:rroved the .si•:nal Asse;;s.,-,ent hell of benefits & damages I/ confirming in all things the original assessment roll heretofore approved, and thereupon declare said portion of said alley above designated vacated and now direct that a copy of said assessment roll be forthwith. transmitted t0 the Dept. of Finance. The _ oard received a petition for a passage of a hesolution pro- t•iding for the inn-rovement of North 23rd St. from N. "E" to A. ''P+ Street by constructing a cement curb & gutter 1` ft wide on both sides of said street , and graveled roadway. Signed by A. A. Mumbower, and J. E. Clark. Referred tc the Engineer for plans.
