The Board of Public [corks of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of said Board Thursday, August 7th, 1919 , at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board b ein L.resent Messrs. Gilbert , Taylor, and Peitz , the following proceedings were - had to-wit :-a 1/ - The Board approved and signed the Contract and Bond of Daniel G. - Burkhardt, Contractor, under Improvement Resolution No. 568-1919. The Board approved the Primary Assessment Roll of benefits and damages in the matter of vacating the 2nd alley south of Main St. between lots 2 & 3, 3. Bond' s addition, from the west side of S. 7th St. to the lst alley west running north & south between 6th & 7th Sts. under Declaratory Resolution No. 123-a1919. The Board fix- ed the 21st day of August , 1919, as the day of hearing against said assessment. The Western Union Telegraph Co. filed with the Board a petition now up before the Public Service Commission of Indiana in the RE- PETITION for increase of rates. Referred to the City Attorney. The Board received the complaints of Council of August 4th in the matter of the Central _Labor Council protesting against buildings now under constructs on in the City not being built according to the Building Code. Mr. Peitz moved that the Bldg. Inspector, and Mr. Gregg meet with the Board at 1 o' clock P.M. in the office of tie Board of t orkss Thursday, August 7th , 1919 . Mr. Miller, I�i-re %hief, reported that the-15lTdings that he had in- spected in regard to wiring that he had found nothing that amounted to anything contrary to the code. Mr. Pelts moved that Wm. T. Cook be awarded the contract to build a trash and garbage container at the Market House according to the , plans of the City Engineer, for the sum of 025.00. Susanna T. Middleton petitioned the Board to change the location of - the 1st alley north of West Main St. between 7th :& 8th Streets. } Board will take under consideration. - • - The Clerk was instructed to notify the Oesting' s Plumbing Company - to keep the sidewalk cleen of gravel & dirt at S. 6th & "E" St. Mr. Gilbert moved that the following streets be swept immediately of all surplus sand: S. 7th , 11th , 15th, & 18th, and N. 12th & 15th - Streets, and sweepings to be taken off as' soon as swept up. .:econded by Mr. Taylor so ordered. The Clerk was instructed to notify the proper officials of the C. & ,i O. R. R. Co. to have the weeds cut from aloab.g their right-of-way from South "H" to 6th St. , also to have ditch cleaned out on 6th St, The Clerk was instructed to notify the Standard Oil Co. to instTuc their contra for to stop scattering dirt s] ong the streets from his wagons now working at Main & 11th Sts. 346 Thursday, August 7th, 1919 . The Clerk was also instructed to notify the Hoffman Construction Co. , %. Mr. Underwood, The Hotel Westcott , to have teamsters now working on North 10th St . on the Steinhardt Bldg. to stop scatter- ing dirt from their wagons along the streets . Mr. Peitz moved that after careful investigation by_the Bldg. In- spector, Fire Chief, and City Atty. the building in question on the corner of North 12th and "B" Sts. is being properly construct- ed according to the City Bldg. Code. Seconded by Mr. Taylor mo- ti on prevailed. 1/ Bills to the amount of0.0,004.08 were allowed and ordered paid. The Board approved the various payrolls up to August 1st, 1919. The Board of Public .orlks of the City of hi.chmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of said Board Monday, August 11 , 1919 , at 9 A.M. .TT21, of the members of said Board being present Messrs . Taylor; and Feltz , absent Mr. Gilbert, the following pro- ceedings were had to-wit :- I. A. Gorman, Supt . of Police, requested that the Board have the City jail repaired and painted. The Board will give it consider•a- tiori. The Clerk was instructed to notify H. F. Prichard of 326 S. 8th St . , and Dan Gard of R. R. 8 , to have the weeds cut on their pro- perty on hichmondAve. between 7th & 8th Sts . , also to notify Mather Bros. , and the Standard Oil Company to have the weeds cut at their property or place of business on North "P" St. The Board investigated the opening of the roadway at the north side of the gravel site in Spring Grove , and are unanimously in favor of it .
