Re: 2023 Salary Ordinance Amendment
President Cappa and Council Members,
Due to modernization and the digital nature of the world, specifically the Police Department
and the Wayne County Court System, we find it necessary to make a needed change to our
civilian support staff structure as it is currently listed in the 2023 Salary Ordinance. Under line
item # 1101-0370-101-1196, listed as Salary & Wages- Civilian, I seek Common Council’s
approval to retitle a vacant position that has become obsolete. The specific position is currently
listed as Support Services Coordinator. I am requesting to change this position to “Records
Division Specialist” which will require no adjustment in the salary level.
If approved, this position will be posted immediately to begin reducing pressure and demand on
other current civilian that share many of the duties listed in the new job description, in addition to
the duties they already perform.
This change will serve to better serve our citizens as well as equalize the work load among
current civilian employees.
