The Board of Public Works of the city of nichmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Thurs- day July 10,' 1919 , at 9 A.M. All members• of the said Board being _ present, Messrs. Gilbert , Taylor, and Peitz , the following pro- ceedings were had to-wit : - On motion of Mr.. Gilbert the reading of the minutes of the pre- vious meeting was dispensed with. The Clerk presented- the complaints from Council of Monday, July I/ 7th and the Board instructed the Fire Chief- to investigate' as ' to the' cost of installing self-starters on the Fire Trucks and report back to the Board . • The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Catherine MeKenzie Monarch to have dirt removed from sidewalk at her property on North "E" St. between 23rd &. 24th Streets. X The Clerk was instructed to inform Council that' the Board has investigated as to the advisability of selling the Aerial Fire Truck and find that the present truck is just what is needed for a city of this size , and that it was also purchased on advice of the citizens with the view of getting a lower rate of in- surance, and to dispose of it would probably be at a great. loss. The Board therefore recommends that this truck not be sold. The Board' further finds that up to the present time there has been no expense for its upkeep. * The Clerk was instructed to notify the School Board to have the dead tree removed from .on the west. side of North 7th St . at the Warner School. The Board meets to hear remonstrances if any of persons primar- ily assessed on acbount of the vacation of the alley on the West side of North 8th St. running east and west between lots 53 &54 ' Sarah Sanders Add. running from the west side of North 8th St . to the west line of said: lots under Declaratory Resolution #122- 1919 . No one remonstrating' the Board approved the Final Assess- ment Roll. of benefits. &t damages confirming in all things the original assessment roll heretofore approved, and thereupon de- clare said portion of said alley 'above designated vacated,' and now direct that a copy o.f said assessment roll be forthwith transmitted to the' Dept . of Finance. The' City Engineer was instructed to draw up a notice in regard to the Trash Ord. , and have same printed in the daily papers instead of. having hand-bills of cards printed. The Building Inspector .was` instructed to have ghas. Tangeman repair the toilet in the City Jail. Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, informed the,Board that Earl Sharkey who had been appointed Fireman had not reported for duty, and recommended that Harry Bradfield be appointed to take Sharkey' s place. The Board confirmed the ..appointment . Thursday, July, 10th , 1919 . 333 Mr. Dillon, Supt . of the Light Plant, asked that appraisers be ap- pointed to appraise the Chevrolet Runabout owned by the M. E. L. & P. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Monday, July 14, 1919 , at 9 A.M. All members of the said Board being rres:ent Messrr. Gilbert , Taylor, and Peitz , the following proceedings were had to- wit : - On motion of Mr. Gilbert the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with . The Board received a communication from the Travelers Indemnity Co. , of Hartford, Conn. signed by John L. Thompson, Supt. , giving certain recommendations to be made on the Tubular Boiler for the heating plant of the City Bldg. and allowing a steam pressure of 15 pounds on said boiler, this communication was referred to Mr. Miller, Fire Chief. The Board instructed the Clerk to instruct the Police Dept . to notify - the property owners on the south side of Richmond. Ave. between the river and a'►'. 1st St . to have their weeds cut. The Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. Murray to at once have the Bill Board on North 10th St . between "J" and the river raised 36 inch es from the ground. The Board instructed the Engineer to have all the unused lamp posts from all over the -City removed. The Bldg. Inspector was instructed to have two (2 ) new awnings put up at the rest windows in the City Engineer's office. The Clerk was instructed to notify the Park Supt . to have the Sanitar Drinking Fountain in the South 10th St. Park repaired. Mr. John Foulke appeared before the Board asking for more time to re- move building material from Park Place between S. 10th & llth Sts. Mr. Peitz moved that Mr. Foulke be given until Monday, July 21st ,1919
