Monday, June 30 , 1919.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
' in-regular session at the office of the said Board, Monday, June
30 , 1919 , at 9 A.M. Two members of the said Board being present
Messrs. Taylor, and Peltz , absent Mr. Gilbert , the following pro
ceedings were had to-wit: - _
The minutes- of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The Board approved and signed the contract and bond of Zebulon
B. Pyle, contractor, under . Improvement Resolution 566-1919.
Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, reported the resignation of Ray Robbins,'
fireman, and the appointment of Earl Sharkey to fill the vacancy
caused by the resignation of Ray Robbins. The Board accepted the
resignation, and approved the appointment.
' The Board instructed the Fire Chief, Mr. Miller , to see that the
boiler in the City Bldg. is cleaned and properly repaired.
The-Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 568-1919
for the improvement of South 9th St . by constructing a cement
walk 6' ft . wide on both sides of said street from South H to South
h Street.

Mr. Peitz moved that the Police Dept. be instructed to call the
attention of the proprietors of all business places to the Garbage
& Trash Ordinance , stating to them that they should not sweep
trash into the street as it is the intention of the Board to
strictly enforce the ordinance. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so order-
ed.
The Board instructed the City Engineer to have One Thousand
-- (1000) cards printed to -be put up on streets reminding people not
' to throw paper etc. on the streets but to use the trash pans.
The Board instructed the St. Commissioner to have Main St. swept
every Sunday morning.
The Board received a petition for the vacation ofth:e ,,second al-
ley south of Main St. west of South 7th St. running from S. 7th
to the first alley running north & south signed by the trustees
of the Redmen, and the Eagle Lodge. Referred tothe Engineer for
plans. =
Mr. Peitz moved that no more petitions for oiling of streets be
accepted after July 7th. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered.
The Board received bids for the improvement of alley between N.
20th & 21st Streets from the 1st alley north of Main St. running
east and west , to North C St . by constructing cement roadway
under Irnorovement Resolution No. 567-1919 as follows to-wit : -
Daniel G.' Burkhardt' s bid:
Cement roadway complete per sq. ft. 0.244
Connecting sewer taps to lot lines per linear ft. 1.50
Monday, June 30 , 1919 . 329
No other bids being received and Mr. Burkhardt's bid being within
the estimate of the City Civil Engineer Mr. Peitz moved the bid be
accepted and the contract awarded to Mr. Burkhardt . Seconded by
Mr. Taylor so ordered.
The Board then adjourned.

The Board of Public Forks of the city of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session at the office of the said Board, Thursday, July 3,
1919 , at 9 A.M. Two members -of the said Board being present Messrs.
Taylor, and Peitz , absent Mr. Gilbert, the following proceedings
were had to-wit: -
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Board approved and signed the contract and bond of Daniel G.
Burkhardt , contractor, under Improvement Resolution 567-1919 .
TheBoard unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution 123-1919 for the
vacation of the second alley south of Main on the west side of S.
7th St. between Main and South "A" St. running from S. 7th west to
the 1st alley running north and south between South 6th & 7th Sts .
which alley proposed to be vacated is more particularly described,
(See Resolution. )
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution 569-1919' for
the improvement of South 4th St. & Ft . Wayne Ave. from South "A" St .
to North "D" St. by paving with one of the following kinds of modern
City pavement to-wit: - Asphalt -- Brick -- Concrete -- or Creosoted
Wood- Block to gether with the necessary curb & gutter where not al-
ready provided with a standard pavement and curb in good condition,
also cement sidewalks on both sides of said street except where goo
cement sidewalk is already laid in good condition.
Pursuant to a notice given to the inhabitants of the City of Rich-
mond , Indiana, the Board meets to hear remonstrances if any against
the grant and contract presented by the Starr Piano Company, a cor-
poration of said City, its successors, or assigns signed by Henry
Gennett, President, and Fred Gennett , Secretary, filed with the
Board of Public Works on the 16th day of June, 1919 , for permission
