HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-16-1919 322 Office of the Board of Public Vvorks , City of hichmond , Indiana, M'onday , • June 16 , 1919 . • The Board of Public Works of the City of niohmond , Indiana , met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Monday, June 16 , 1919 , at 9 o ' clock A.M. A11 the members of the said Board _ being present Messrs . Gilbert , Taylor, and Peitz, the following proceedings were had to-wit :- • Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Board meets . to hear all persons interested in or whose pro- perty is affected by the construction of a cement roadway in the alley between North 20th & 21st streets from the first alley north of Main St . to North "C" St . under Improvement aesolution No. 567--1919 . After hearing all persons interested . Y:ho appeared and a remonstrance having been filed signed by sixteen (16 ) residence property owners, and upon the advice of the City Eng. that there are 35 residence property owners, .and as only 16 res- idence property owners signed the remonstrance therefore not hav- _i.ng a majority of the reside ice property owners signing the re- monstrance the Board decided that the benefits to property . liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon take final • action on said i esolut ion as originally adopted the same being confirmed without modification. The Board instructed the Sanitary Inspector to notify the pro-' ..prietor of the restaurant at the corner of 5th & Main 'Streets to have the exhaust from the circulating fan piped up above the windows of the City Bldg. "Comes now The Starr Piano Company, a corporation, of said City , alid files and presents to the .6oard of Public :forks , at a regular meeting of said Board, all the members thereof being pre- sent , a tentative. draft of contract which it desires to make with said City , under and pursuant to and in accordance with the laws. of the State of Indiana. "Said Board having seen & examined said proposed contract, now ufianimously determine the exact form in which such contract is to be finally adopted & approves the same insuch form, and ex- presses a willingness & desire to enter into such contract with said corporation, as follows : (here insert ) see contract. "And said Board now fixes Thursday, July 3rd, 1919 , at 9 o 'clock A. M. at its office in the, City Bldg. in said City , as the time and place that a public hearing shall be had to finally con- sider such contract , at which- time & place any taxpayer of such 11 City may appear & file protest against any or all of the provisions • of said contract . And the Board orders that the full and complete text of said, contract be published by said Co. , at its own expense , one time at least one week before July 3rd , 1919 , with the time & place of such hearing stated therein, in the Evening Item & in the Palladium Sun-Telegram) daily newspapers of general circulation printed in the English language in this City, acid that said Co. shall likewise post _a copy of such contract & notice in ten (10) public places in such City , as provided by an "Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, approved March 6th , 1913 , J. The Board of Public Works of the . City of Richmond , Indiana, met in • regular session at the office of the said Board, Thursd-, June 19, 1919, at 9 A.M. All members of the said Boe..rd being present Messrs. Gilbert, Taylor, and Peitz the following proceedings were had to- wit:- The minutes of the previous meeting we,re. read and approved. The Board instructed the Engineer--to get up plans for the improvement of South 4th St. from "A" to Main, and Ft . Wayne Ave. from Main to North "D" Street. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify the IC. P. Bldg. Committee to have the rubbish, bricks, etc. cleaned away from the corner of South 8th & "A" Streets within ten (10) days from date. The Clerk presented the complaints, from Council meeting of June 16th which were referred to the Board. The Board received from Ed. D. McNally, Secty. of the Board of Metro- politan Police Committee, the report of the sale of the Ford touring car used by the Police Dept . to the Bethard Auto Agency for the sum of $415.00. Onrmotion the sale was approved. Mr. Peitz moved that the claim of the Bethard Auto Agelcy of t1165.00 for the Dodge Touring Car to be used by the Police Dept. for emer- gency calls, be allowed and ordered paid. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered. The Board meets to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected by the vacation of the alley on the west side, of North 8th St. between lots 53 & 54 Sarah Sanders Add. tothe City- of Richmond, as provided for under Declaratory Resolution 122-1919. No one ap- pearing and no remonstrance having been filed the Board now takes final action on said resolution, the same being confirmed without modification, and the Board orders that a roll be prepared of all
