RESCHEDULED MEETING
DATE: August 31, 1981 AT: Village Ha11
MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: President R. Selfridge, Trustees G. Ansley, J. King,
D. Lambert, L. Robinson and C. Smith. J. Graham was
absent.
President called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the pledge to the flag.
Roll call was taken. J. Graham was absent.
G. Ansley made a motion to approve the agenda as written and adjourn into executive
session on personnel. Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call: King, aye; Lambert,
aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; and Ansley, aye. 5 ayes, na nays. Motion declared
carried.
J. King made a motion to approve the minutes of August 3 and August 17, 1981 as
written. Seconded by -. Lambert. Vote by roll call: King, aye; Lambert, aye;
Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; Ansley, aye. 5 ayes, no .nays. Motion declared carried.
At 7:37 p.m. a hearing was .held for the Village of Plainfield on its intent to
adopt a levy as required by Public Act 82-102 for the fiscal year 1981-1982.
Amount of property taxes, exclusive of election costs, estimated to
be extended on behalf of this taxing district for tax year 1980 is
$300,000.00. 1980 levy is $443,524.00. Amount of proposed levy for
the year 1981 is $490,005.00. Estimated percentage increase is 8%.
G. Ansley made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 1025, Chapter 11, Article 3,
Section 3-2$: Tax Levy Ordinance, 1981-1982., Seconded by C. Smith. Vote by
roll call: King, aye; Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; and Ansley, aye.
5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion for the Village Board of Trustees to direct a letter to
Officer Friendly, Michael Chelini, on behalf of his good public relations for
the Village of Plainfield. Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote by roll call: King, aye;
Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; and Ansley, aye. 5 ayes, na nays. Motion
declared carried.
Decision of the Board to table the underground storage tank bid from Aetna Tank and
Pump Co., Tnc., Hillside, Illinois 60162.
J. King made a motion for Officers J. Mander and G. Chapman to attend the Breatherlizer
School in Champaign, Tllinois on October l2 - 16 at a cost of $330.00 each (State will
reimburse Village $250.00 each). Seconded by C. Smith. Vote by roll call: King, aye;
Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; and Ansley, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion
declared carried.
J. King made a motion to reimburse the police officers for their clothing allowance
for the fiscal year 1980-1981 that has not been used. Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote
by roll call: King, aye; Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; and Ansley, aye.
5 ayes, no nays. Marion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to reimburse $150.00 to each officer for their clothing allowance
for the fiscal year 1981-19$2. Seconded by D. Lambert. Vote by roll call: King, aye;
Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; and Ansley, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion
declared carried.

Rescheduled Meeting
L. Robinson made a motion to extend the Plainfield North Subdivision preliminary plat
for one year (September 12, 1982). Seconded by G. Ansley. Vote by roll call: King,
aye; Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; and Ansley, aye. 5 ayes, no nays.
Motion declared carried.
L. Robinson requested that the Village Board direct a letter of appreciation to
Budd's Spraying for their concern over the storage shed.
Mary Latta, a resident of the Whispering Creek Subdivision, spoke vn behalf of the
Whispering Creek homeowners and directing questions to our Village attorney in
reference to the Special Assessments and acceptance of the streets to the Village. -~
On motion meeting adjourned to executive session 9:39 p.m.
Adjourned meeting reconvened at 10:25 p.m.
D. Lambert made a motion to hire Charles Robinson as apart time dispatcher at a
salary of $3.75 per hour effective August 30, 1981. Seconded by J. King. Vote by
roll call: King, aye; Lambert, aye; Robinson, absent; Smith, aye; and Ansley, aye.
4 ayes, no nays: Motion declared carried.
