PLAINFIELD VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Regular Meeting
DATE: July 6, 1981
AT: Village Hall
MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: G. Ansley, J. Graham, J. King, D. Lambert, C. Smith.
L. Robinson attended late. President R. Selfridge
was absent.
In the absence of the President, Shirley Yates, Village Clerk called the meeting to
order at 7:30 p.m. with the pledge to the flag.
J. Graham made a motion to appoint Trustee G. Ansley as President pro-tem. Seconded
by C. Smith. Motion carried.
Roll'ca;Il~.was taken. President R. Selfridge was absent. Trustee L. Robinson was
absent (late in attendance).
J. Graham made a motion to appoint Trustee G. Ansley as President pro-tem. Seconded

J. King made a motion to approve the minutes of June
Seconded by D. Lambert. Vote by roll call: Smith.,
and Lambert, aye. 4 ayes, no nays. Motion declared
Permission was granted for the Plainfield Historical
social on July 29, 19$1 to have Chicago St. in front
off to traffic from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

J. Graham made a motion to proclaim Wednesday, September 16, 1981 as "Mobil Oil
Day". Seconded by C. Smith. Vate by roll call: Smith, aye; Graham, aye; King,
aye; Lambert, aye. 4 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to accept the resignation of Rebecca Meridieth effective
July 2, 1981. Seconded by J. Graham. Vote by roll call: Smith, aye; Graham,
aye; King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 4 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to advertise for the position of crossing guard and parking
attendant. Seconded by J. Graham. Vote by roll call: Smith, aye; Graham, aye;
King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 4 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. Graham made a motion to adopt the modified accrual basis of accounting for
Village funds. Seconded by C. Smith. Vote by roll call: Robinson, aye; Smith,
aye;, Graham, aye; King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared
carried.
Previous Ordinance x{1020 passed June 1S, 1981 - improperly prepared or codified;
therefore it is abolished.
I,. Rob.ns.on made a matiom to~pass' Otdinance ~f1022; Chapter 6, Article 3, An Ordinance
setting new rates and charges for use and. services of the combined waterworks and
sewerage system of the Village of Plainfield to take effect October 1, 1981 and
amending Ordinance No. 901 in part. Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call:
Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 5 ayes, no
nays. Motion declared carried.

Regular Meeting
J. Graham made, a motion to pass Ordinance ~~1023; Chapter 5, Article 5, An Ordinance
prohibiting the dumping of fill or other debris or permitting same on restricted
property. Seconded by C. Smith. Vote by roll call,: Robinson, aye; Smith, aye;
Graham, aye; King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 5 ayes, na nays. Motion declared carried.
C. Smith made a motion to place two advertisements for employment in the Municipal
League Magazine for a Village Engineer and Street, Water & Sewex Superintendent.
Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call: Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; Graham, aye;
King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. Graham made a mvt~.on to accept the resignation of Dwayne Wilkerson as a
Dispatcher effective July $, 1981. Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call:
Robinson, aye; Smith, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; and Lambert,. aye. 5 ayes, no
nays. Motion declared carried.
Agreement of the Board to have no Spring clean--up this year. Plan having it next
year in May, 1982.
J. King made a motion to ,sign agreement with. the Congregation of Mantellate Servants
of Mary of Pistoia amending paragraph 2. Seconded by L. Robinson. Vote by ro11 call:
Robinson, aye.; Smith, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 5 ayes, no nays.
Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to advertise for bids far an underground gas tank and pump
installation. Seconded by D, Lambert. Vote by roll call: Robinson, aye; Smith,
aye; Graham., aye; King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared
carried.
L. Robinson made a motion to authorize the Village Engineer to prepare the necessary
specifications for extending water system from Lockport St., down James Street to
the High School. Seconded by J. King. Vote by ra11 call: Robinson, aye; Smith, aye;
Graham, aye; King, aye; and Lambert, aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
C. Smith made a motion that the Plainfield Park District be required to connect on
the l2" line on Ottawa Street for their proposed swimming pool. Seconded by J. King.
Vote by roll call: Robinnsan, aye; Smith, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; and Lambert,
aye. 5 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
On motion meeting adjourned 8:50 p.m. to executive session to discuss personnel.
