Regular Meeting
DATE: May 4, 1981 AT: Village Hall
MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: President Selfridge, Trustees G. Ansley,
J. Graham, J. King, D. Lambert, L. Robinson,
and C. Smith
President called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the pledge to
the flag. Roll call was taken. All members of the Board were present.
J. .Graham made a motion to approve minutes ~f the April 6, April 9 and
April 20, 1981 meetings. Seconded by C. Smith. Vote by roll call:
Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; 'King, aye; Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; and
Smith, aye. 6 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
President read a letter of thanks from retired Trustee John D'Arcy.
President read a letter of thanks from Walter 5chempf, retired Township
Clerk.
President read a letter from Illinois Bell Telephone Company commending
the Officer Friendly program.
L. Robinson made a motion to accept receipt of the Zoning Board of
Appeals report. Seconded by G. Ansley.. Vote by roll call: Ansley,
aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith,
aye. 6 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to table Case No. 112-42881V - sign variance
until Mr. Pinu Ptroda removes the portable sign that was only granted
for a two week grand opening. Seconded by C. Smith. Vote by roll call:
Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; and
Smith, aye. 6 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. Graham made a motion to adopt Ordinance #1014; Chapter 8, Article 8,
Variations to Zoning Ordinance No. 674, granted by action of the Village
of Plainfield Board of Trustees; Sec. $-10: Variation of minimum size
plot requirement for 400 Desplaines Street. Seconded by D. Lambert.
Vate by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Lambert, aye;
Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 6 ayes, no nays. Motion declared carried.
J. King made a motion to hire Edwin Bennett as a full time police officer
at a rate of $13,494.00 per year effective May 4, 1981. Seconded by
C. Smith. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye;
Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 6 ayes, no nays. Motion
declared carried.
C. Smith made a motion to approve the current invoice of Coffman Truck
Sales, Inc., 1149 W. Lake St., Aurora, Illinois 60507 for $10,432.00,
to be paid by the Water & Sewer $5,216.00 and Road & Bridge $5,216.00.
Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; Graham, aye;
King, aye; Lambert, aye; Robinson, aye; and Smith, aye. 6 ayes, no
nays. Motion declared carried.

Agreement of the Board to look into the situation with the Plainfield
Township Board on cable T.V. was made.
G. Ansley announced the Federal Revenue Sharing Hearing will be at the
next Board meeting.
On motion meeting adjourned 8:17 p.m. to executive session to discuss
personnel.
