MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: President Selfridge, Trustees, G. Ansley,
J. Graham, J. King, L. Robinson, J. D'Arcy
and C. Smith.
President Selfridge called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m.
President Selfridge announced there would be~a discussion~,an Ralph Bada's
Fireside Lanes. Also Gene Gordon would attend to discuss resurfacing
parking lots at Village Hall.
C. Smith made a motion to approve the minutes of July 21 and July 28.
Seconded by J. King. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye;
Graham, aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye: 6 ayes, no nays.
Motion declared carried.
J. D'Arcy made motion to extend Plainfield North preliminary plat
for one year to 9/12/81. J. Graham seconded. Vote:by.r-alb ca11;:~
Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye;
Smith, aye. 6 ayes no nays. Motion declared carried.
Student Intern Mike Lambert gave report to Village Soard on his
internship in Historic Preservation.
Ann Hintze gave report on premliminary Census figures. The total
number of housing units is reported to be 1376 with a total population
of 3635 indicating a 25% increase in population this decade. The
population per household is believed to be 2.8. Further meetings
will be held to correct errors in the vacancy rate and group quartered
counts. The premliminary figures for unincorporated Plainfield
Township are 3104 households with a population of 1017.2.
The amendents to the Subdivision Control Ordinance are being
Codified by Village Attorney Richard Buck into an Ordinance for
adoption at the August 18th meeting.
J. D'Arcy made a motion to adopt Ordinance ~~985, Annexing the
West 2 of VanDyke Road adjacent to Pheasant Chase Subdivision.
Seconded by J. Graham. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye;
Graham, aye; King,aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye. Motion declared
carried.
J. Graham made a motion to adopt Ordinance ~~986 annexing three
parcels owned by Commonwealth Edison Company. Seconded by J. D'Arcy.
Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye;
Robinson, aye; Smith, aye. 6 ayes no nays. Motion carried.
President Selfridge read a letter from Mary Smith writing on behalf
of residents in Whispering Creek requesting permission to block
off part of Willow Drive West and Meadow Lane, for a "Block Party"
on August 31, 1980. The Board was in full agreement to allow the

closing of the streets but provisions mush be made for emergency
vehicles. President Selfridge instructed the clerk to write a
letter to Mary Smith.
J. King made a motion to adopt Ordinance ~~987 amending Chapter 10,
Article 12, Section 12-2-$, known as the Weed Ordinance. Seconded
by J. Graham. Vote by roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; Graham,
aye; King, aye; Robinson, aye; Smith, aye. Motion declared carried.
L. Robinson made a motion to rescind the policy adopted last year
and to charge the prevailing cost of mowing plus the fine, plus
administrative overhead casts. Seconded by J. Graham. Vote by
roll call: Ansley, aye; D'Arcy, aye; Graham, aye; King, aye;
Robinson, aye; Smith, aye. Motion declared carried.
The Board instructed Village Engineer Gene Gordon to resurface the
front parking lot of Village Hall, beginning at West curb and
working eastward. A maxiYnum of $2,400.00 will be allowed for project.
The Village Board agreed to issue a liquor license to Ralph Bada
for the proposed facility to be known as ''Fireside Lanes"_..as ,per Ghe
Annexation Agreement dated February 16, 1976, Ord finance ~k837.
President Selfridge instructed clerk to write letter to Joliet Federal
Savings and Loan, and Ralph Bada of the agreement.
Due to inclement weather conditions the board meeting was adjourned
at 8:15 p.m.
