The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at. the office of the said Board , Thursday, May 22nd 1919 , at 8 :30 A.Mt Two members of the said Board being present Messrs . Taylor and Peitz , absent Mr. Johnson, the following proceed- ings. were had to-wit : - The minutes of the previous, meeting read and were approved. The Board referred the bill of the Bethard Auto Agency of 0750.00 for a Dodge Bros. Touring Car to the Police Commissioners. The B-oard approved and signed the contract and bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt, Contractor, under Improvement Resolution 562-1919. The Clerk presented the complaints from Council of May 19th , 1919 . The Clerk read a letter from His Hon. C. 0. Mitchel , Mayor of Port- land , Indiane. , asking for data on street improvements. Referred to the City Engineer to answer same. The Board received a petition from the Jenkins Vulcan Spring Co. for the vacation of the alley situated on the West side of N. 8th St . between lots 53 & 54 Sarah Sander' s Add. to the City of Richmond, Indiana. Referred to the City Engineer. • -The Board received a petition providing for a cement roadway in the - alley between North 20th & 21st Streets from the first alley north of Main to North C St . Referred to the Engineer for plans. - The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 567-1919 providing for the improvement of the alley between North 20th & 21st Streets by constructing a cement roadway the full width thereof from the first alley north of Main St. to North C St. 31 4. Thursday, May 22 , 1919. . Bills to . the amount of 14t818 .92 were allowed and ordered paid. The Board approved the various payrolls up to May 17th, 1919. . The Board then adjourned. All the members of the said Board be- ing present Messrs. Johnson, Taylor , and Peitz the following . proceedings were had to-;wit: - _ r ' The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution #122-1919 for the_ vacation of the alley on the west side of North 8th St . . running east and west between lots 53 & 54. Sarah Sander' s Add. The Board instructed the Engineer to get a tar kettle to be used . for Street Repairing.. • The Board granted the Engineer permission to employ George Pease in the Engineering Dept. at the salary of 085.00 per month . The Board instructed the City Atty. to get his information from the City Engineer and file an affidavit against Alfred Underhill for digging in the alley in violation of the City Ordinance. • On motion of Mr. Peitz the Board granted W. N. Johnson permis- sion to build over the sewer which runs through his factory pro- perty. Mr. Peitz moved to allow the bill of R. J. Behringer .for repair- . ing of the roof of the City Bldg. for 015.69 less the discount of 061.63. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered./ .
