The Board of Public iti.orks of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Monday, May 19 , 1919 , at 8 :30 A.M. All theumembers of the said Board being present Messrs. Johnson, Taylor, and Peitz the following pro- ceedings were had to-wit : - The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Folger P. Wilson atpeared before the Board regarding the Foulke Mfg. Co. blocking Park Place not only with lumber but in I/ repairing cars etc. in the street. This compla-int was referred to the Fire Chief and City Atty. to notify Mr. John Foulke to discontinue this practice. . The Board .on,Maytl5tht'on confirmitg\thecreso.lution for the im- _ provement of South 4th St. neglected to state what amount the City would pay on same. Mr. Peitz moved that the confirmation of said resolution be amended to read that the Board finds benefits to the property liable to be assessed for the cost of said improvement are equal to the cost as estimated by the City Civil Engineer less the sum the City will pay toward- said im- provement . The City agrees to pay the cost of street and alley intersections, 10% of the cost of curb and gutter, and a such sum in addition thereto as will amount to the sum of $2400.00. Motion prevailed, resolution so confirmed as modified. The Board granted the Starr Piano Company permission to tempor- arily close South 1st Street between their buildings at their own risk in case of fire. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution #565-1919 for the improvement of South 9th St. by constructing a cement sidewalk 6'ft .;, wide on both sides' of said Street from South H to South Z Street . The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Aesolution 566-1919 _ providing for the improvement of South E Street and alley be- tween South 4th & 5th Streets by constructing a sewer beginning at the trunk sewer in South E Street at South 6th Street run- ning thence west in South E St. to the alley running north between South 4th & 5th Sts. thence north in said alle_yr to the first al- ley south of South D Street running east and west . The Board received bids for the improvement of the alley be- tween South 13th & 14th Streets from the first alley south of Main 8t. running east 'and west to south "A" Street under im- provement Resolution 562-1919 as follows to-wit : I/ - Daniel G. Burkhardt ' s bid: Cement roadway complete .22V per sq. ft . Catch Basin complete $45.50 No other bids being received and Mr. Burkhardt' s bid being within the estimate of the City Engineers Mr. Peltz moved that the con- tract be awarded to Mr. ,Burkhardt. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered. The Board instructed the Bldg. Inspector to look after repair- Konday,, May 19 , 1919 . 31kJ i.ng of the toilet at the North 10th Street Park house . The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at. the office of the said Board , Thursday, May 22nd 1919 , at 8 :30 A.M. Two members of the said Board being present Messrs . Taylo.r and Peltz , absent Mr. Johnson, the following proceed- ings. were had to-wit : - - • The minutes of the previous, meeting read and were approved. The Board referred the bill of the Bethard Auto Agency of 750.00 for a Dodge Bros. Touring Car to the Police Commissioners. The B-oard approved and signed the contract and bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt, Contractor, under Improvement Resolution 562-1919 . The Clerk presented the complaints from Council of May 19th , 1919 . The Clerk read a letter from His Hon. C. 0. Mitchel , Mayor of Port- land , Indiana , asking for data on street improvements. Referred to the City Engineer to answer same. The Board received a petition from the Jenkins Vulcan Spring Co. for the vacation of the alley situated on the West side of N. 8th St . between lots 53 & 54 Sarah Sander' s Add. to the City of Richmond, Indiana. Referred to the City Engineer. I/ -The Board received a petition providing for a cement roadway in the - alley between North 20th & 21st Streets from the first alley north of Main to North C St. Referred to the Engineer for plans. - The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 567-1919 providing for the improvement of the alley between North 20th & 21st Streets by constructing a cement roadway the full width thereof from the first alley north of Main St. to North C St.
