Monday, April 14, 1919.
The Board of Public Worksof the City of Richmond, Indiana, met- is
regular session at the office of the said Board, Monday, April 14,
1919 , at 8:30 A.M. All the members of the said Board being present
Messrs. Johnson, Taylor, and Peitz, the following proceedings were
had to-wit:-
Minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved,as amended.
Mr. Peltz moved the minutes of the previous meeting in regard to

the South 9th- St. contract be amended' to read that the contract be •
awarded to Mr. C. M. Kirkpatrick- at his original . figures, as on re-
checking the figures his bid is lower than the City Engineer' s
estimate. Seconded by Mr. Taylor.,
• Mr. Johnson moved that Mr. L. M. Hayes be awarded the contract of
papering the kitchen, dining room, parlor, and bed room at the De-
tention-Hospital for $21.95. Seconded by Mr. Taylor.
• The Clerk presented the petition of the Terre Haute, - Indianapolis,
and Eastern Traction Company for increase of Freight Rates and re-
visions of classifications, zones, etc. before the Public Service
Commission of Indiana, which was referred to the City Atty. .
The Board received the petition for the improvement of both sides
of South 4th St. from Main to South "A" St. providing for the pav-
ing of said street with one of the following kinds of pavement t8-
wit :- 'Brick, Concrete, Asphalt , or Creosoted Wood-Block, signed by
Charles Knollenerg. Referred to .the Engineer for plans.
After considering the bids' for the e.ollection,removal, and disposal
of ashes , and sweepings in the +City of Richmond, Indiana, Mr. John-
son moved thatthe bid of F. E. Slick of $59,960.00 be accepted and
he be awarded the contract for four3(4) years. Seconded by Mr.
Taylor so. ordered.
The Board instructed the Engineer to have the St. Commissioner ,
trim the sod from the sidewalk on the east side of South 5th St.
' at the St. Andrew' s Cemetery, and to send the bill to Joseph Walter-
. . mann.
The Board instructed the City Engineer to have South 13th Street
south of "E" scarified and rolled, also to repair Hunt St, from
Charles to Linden Avenue, and Linden Avenue from Hunt St. to the
railroad.
The Board instructed the Supt. Of theLight Plant to place an arc
light at the corner of School & BoperYalso,,: at. 'Grant & Butler. •
The Board instructed the CityContr'o11er -to°• draw up an ordinance
for an Additional Appropriation of Two-hundred ($200.00) Dollars
for the purchase of Chemical Hose, also an additional appropriation
of $ for Coal for the Fire Dept.
The Board then adjourned.
