The. Board of Public works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session at the office of the said Board , Thursday,-April
3, 1919 , at 8 :30 A.M. All members of the said Board being present
- Messrs. Johnson, Taylor, and ,Peltz , the following proceedings were
had to-wit : -II - -
Minutes of the previous meeting read.. and were approved.
The Board approved and signed the petition of the Starr Piano Co.
granting them permission t o lay under private contract a driveway
from gutter to sidewalk infront of lot #41 Hanover Addition-
.situat-ed on the west side of South 5th St all work to be done at the
petitioners expense and in accordance with the standard specifica=
tions for such work subject to the inspection and approval of the
City Engineer.
The Board approved and, signed a petition of the Starr Piano Co . ,
granting them permission to lay under private contract a cement
block on South "A" St . at 1st St . from curb to curb , all work to
be done at the petitioners expense and in accordance with the
standard specifications for such work, subject to the inspection
and approval of the City Engineer. -
The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Louis Zurwell of11l0 N.
''J" St . t o. take care of the spring and waste water running out on
to N. llth St . by piping same to river, and the Board would recom-
mend soft drain tile .
Mr. Hoelscher appeared before the Board in regard to the claim of
Mary H. Wisler who sustained injuries by fall on sidewalk on N.Va .
2nd St . The Board informed Mr. Hoelscher that they w:u1d to::e this
matter up with the City Attorney.
The Board instructed the Engineer to purchase twelve ( 12 ) trash
• cans to be placed at street intersections .
• Mr. Davis , City Engineer , informedthe Board that the Richmond ,
Lumber Co . wanted to construct a retaining wall on N.W. 2nd St .
from Chestnut St . to the Railroad, and asked that the Railroad Co.
be requested to build their portion of said wall. Mr. Peitz moved
that the City Engineer take up with the Supt . of the P.C.C. & St.L.
R.R.Co. asking them if they would cooperate with the City to build
their portion of this retaining { y'.wall. Seconded, bMr. Taylor .
Mr. Peitz moved that the Board of corks recuest the Mayor to ap-

point a commi ttee from Council to act in co-operation with the
Beard of ' orks to palce before the County Commissioners or proper
authorities the proposition of building a Memorial Building.
The Board then adjourned.
