The Board of Public Works of the City of -Richmond , Indiana , met in regular session at the office of the said Board , Thursday, March 20, 1919 , at 8 : 30 A.M. All members of the said Board be- ing present Messrs. Johnson, Taylor, and Peitz , the following proceedings were had to-wit : - Minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved . The Board appointed Ira Slick as a fireman. to fill the vacancy in the Fire Dept . caused by the resignation of Clarence Lane . Mr. Johnson asked to be excused from Board .Meeting Thursday, Mar. 27th . His request was granted. The Clerk read a communication from Paul P. Haynes of the Public Service Commission of Indiana requesting the City of Richmond to have representatives at the Conference to be held in Indianapolis Saturday, March 29th , 1919 , at 10 A.M. in regard to the distri- bution of Natural Gas. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify the Commission that the City would be represented by the Mayor, and City Atty. - The Board instructed the Building Inspector to take some action in regard to the bill boards at 16th &` South B Streets. The Board instructed the City Engineer to require a deposit from anyone borrowing pump or tools of any kind from the St. Dept . & Engineering Dept. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify 0. G. Murray to repair sidewalt in front of the Murray Theatre on Main Street according to the instructions of the City Eng. otherwise the City will re I/ - pair same at his expense. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Mrs. Alice •McLear of 119 N. 12th St . to repair sewer ditch at her property on N. 16th Street. Thursday , March 20 , 1919 . 287 Bills to the amount ofi2,067 . 58 were allowed and ordered paid. The Board approved the various Payrolls up to March 16th,. 1919 . Mr. Feltz moved that the City Engineer and Mr. Taylor determine a reasonable cash rent for said ground , .and present to Mr. lickens . econded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered. L petition was presented for the improvement of the north side of ;South B street , by constructing a cement side walk, curb and gutter from east terminal of the present dement walk to the south 21st . street . ;signed by Margaret P . The Board. unanimously adopted imwrcvs.:ent resolution ;r561-1919 for the imnrotemeht of the north side of south B street , by co__- structin? a cement side walk six foot ( 6 ft . ) wide , also curb and gutter from the east terminal of the present cement side walk cn north side of south B street , at east side of tract 511 official map to south 21st . street . As all interested property owners waved their right to remonstrate against said improvement the Board instructed the Clerk to advertise for bids .
