HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-06-1919 2132 Office of the Board of Public Works , City of Richmond , Indiana Thursday, March 6 , 1919 . The Board of Public Works of the City of nichmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Thursday , March 6, 1919 , at 8 :30 A.M. All members of the said Board be- ing present Messrs. Johnson, Taylor, and Peitz, the following proceedings were had to-wit : - Minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved. The bills of the Standard Oil Co. fors 7 .71 of the St . Dept. , I/ and ti 7 .72 of the Engineering Dept . were allowed• and' ordered paid in order to save the discount . The recommendation from Council to install a Fire Alarm Box on Center St . between north-west 2nd and north-west 5th Sts . was taken under consideration. The Board ordered new roof and gutters on the City Jail at the cost of 05.28 , and awarded ri. J. Behrnger the contract of placing steel ceiling in the jail for 87 ..75. The petition signed by Josephine Buhl and sixteen others regard- ing the sanitary conditions at Nos . 921 •- 917 - 915 South A St . owned by Mrs. Mary Mann of 109 South 8th St . , and Mr. B. F. Harris of 43 South 8th St. was referred to the Board of Health . The Board instructed the Clerk to notify the City Atty. to col- lect the bill from the hichmond Light Heat & Power Co. for the accident and injury of Isaac Markley amounting to 73.75, and also to get out deed for the transfer of the lots 4-5-6-7 & 41 in the Hanover Additi one to the Starr Piano Co. The Board meets to hear all persons interested in or who' s pro- perty is affected by Improvement nesoluti on No. 558-1919 pro- viding for the improvement of South 9th St . from South E St. to the South Corporation Limits of the City of hich mond, Indiana, by paving the roadway of said street in such portion thereof as is not provided for by the 3-Mile Hoad Proceedings now pending before the County Commissioners of Wayne Co. , ind. , such street paving to be of like kind as that adopted by the said Board of County Commissioners , and also for the improvement of said st. by building of cement curb & gutter on either side thereof. Said street to be paved with one of the following kinds of pave- ment to-wit : - Brick; Concrete ; Creosoted Wood-block; or Bitumin- ous Macadam on Concrete Base . After hearing all persons inter- ested who appeared and no remonstrance hating been filed the Board decided that the benefits to property liable to be assess- ed for said improvement arcequal to the ,cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer less the portion of which the City will pay . The City agrees to pay 10% c.&. ff.& :street,and alley intersections. Mr. Peitz moved to confirmvhesoluti. on No. 558- 1919 without modification, and for the Clerk to advertise for bids . Seconded by Mr. Taylor. The Board meets to hear all persons interested in or who' s I Thursday, March. 6 , 1919 . 283 , property is affected by the construction of cement roadway in the alley between South 21st & 22nd Sts. from South A St. south to the north-line of Tract 537 Official Yap of the City of Richmond , Ir_d. under Improvement Resoluti on No. 559-1919. No one appearing or _remonstrating the Board decided that the benefits to property li.- • able to be assessed for said improvement are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil 'Engineer, and thereupon take final action on said resolution, the same being confirmed without modification, and the Clerk was instructed to advertise .for bids. Bills to the amount of 34,826905 were allowed and ordered paid. I/ • The Board approved the various payrolls up to March 1 , 1919 . The Board then adjourned. . Presidt of the Board. The Board approved the bond of the Barrett Co. of Cincinnati , Ohio for the furnishing of Tarvia to the City of Richmond , Indiana for the year 1919 .
