HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-20-1919 278 Office of the Board of, Public Works , City of Richmond , Indiana , Thursday , February 20 , 1919 . , The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Thursday, - February 20, 1919 , at 8 ;30 A.M. Two of the members of said Board being present , Messrs. Johnson and Taylor, absent Mr. Peitz , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : - - Minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved. I/ Mr. Johnson moved that the Board should reconsider its action of Monday, February 17 , 1919 , in regard to Improvement Resolution . No. 557-1919 , in order to get this improvement in the proper form to present to the Council. seconded-by Mr. Taylor. The Board takes up Improvement Resolution No. 557-1919 and after careful consideration of the petition and remonstrance on file and being properly informed in regard to this improvement the Board decides ' that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said im- provement are equal to . the estimated cost of the same as reported by the City Engineer, there upon takes final action on. said res- olution as originally adopted, the same being confirmed without modification. The remonstrance on file having been signed by a majority of the resident property owners against said improve- ment the Board can proceed no further in the matter of said im- provement unless authorized by Ordinance passed by a two-thirds vote of the Common Council and approved by the Mayor. Mr. John- son then moved that the matter of said improvement be referred to the Common Council in the form of an Ordinance for their consider ation. Seconded by Mr. Taylor.- The question then being upon the adoption of the motion of Johnson, Messrs. Johnson and Taylor voting aye. The motion of Johnson was declared adopted. Dr. Anderson appeared before the Board in the interest of the Z. D. Factory and Williams Furniture Co. in regard to getting the City to put in another Fire Hydrant on Center St . about half ' way between West 5th & West 2nd as the hydrants at these points . were not adequate protection to these companies. Mr. Johnson . moved that under the supervision of the Fire Chief a fire hydrant be installed on Center St . about half way between West 5th & West 2nd Streets on the north side of the street . Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered. And the Clerk was instructed to notify The Richmond City Water Works Co. of this action. The Board moved to reci nd their action of Monday , January 6 , 1919 in regard to installing three fire hydrants along the Gaar Road at the P. C. C. & St. L. h. h. Shops and moved the number of Fire ' Hydarnts to be installed on that street be two instead of three , and instructed the Clerk to notify the Richmond City Water Works. Co. of its action. 1/ The two bills of J. O. Willson' s were referred to Mr. Taylor for investigation. Bills to the amount of 45,290.01 were allowed and ordered paid . • The Board approved the various payrolls up to and including Feb. 15th, 1919 .
