The Board of 2uIlic Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Thursday , December 5, 1918 at 9:00 A.M. Two of the members of said Board being present , Messrs . Taylor and Peitz , absent Mr. Hohnson. The following proceedings were had to-wit :- I/ The minutes of previous meeting read and were approved. Mr. Peitz moved that . the City Attorney be instructed to draw up a notice and turn over to the Police Dept. notifying the Contractor of the Z. of P. Temple Bldg. to remove within ten ( 10 ) days from this date all bricks etc. from sidewalk on South A Street. Second- ed by Mr. Taylor so ordered. Mr. Taylor moved that the salary of the Custodian of the City Bldg, be increased from 160.00 per month to. ;70.00 from the 1st of Dec. 1918. Seconded by Mr. Peitz so ordered. Bills to the amount of .` 9 ,354.63 . .were .allowed.and ordered. paid. The Board approved the various payrolls upto Dec. 1st, 1918. The Board did then adjourn. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board, Monday , Dec. 9 , 1918 , at 9 :00 A.M. All members of said Board being present Messrs. John- son, Taylor, and Peitz, the following proceedings were had, to-wit The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved. The Board on motion purchased the ground known as the Carpenter' s Dam and Race Site , and other ground described in Abstract and Deed (See Street & Alley Record No. 4, page 62 ) for the sum of 2,500.0( from Elizabeth C. Marmon, and ordered the Finance Dept. to issue I/ voucher on payment of same. Mr. Peitz moved that the gravel lease from Elizabeth Marmon to the Richmond Gravel Company "For and in consideration of the right and authority so to do as is granted by said owner herein, the purchase] hereby and herewith covenants and agrees that it shall and will make payment to said owner for the right aforesaid and in payment for such gravel as is by it excavated and removed the annual stipen( or payment of One Hundred 0100.00) Dollars per year, and it con- tracts and agrees to make such payment without relief from valuati.m or appraisement laws on or before the first day of October of the each year of the continuance of purchasers rights hereunder.F* 256 Monday, December 9 , 1918 . Seconded by' Mr. Taylor so ordered. The Board on motion allowed and ordered paid in order to save the discount the claim of William Lee for 78.77 . The Board granted Swayne, Robinson & Company permission to con- struct under private contract a driveway across sidewalk infront of lots 5 & 6 in the James K. Dugdale Addition on North 2nd St. I/ in accordance with the standard specifications for such work subject to the inspection and approval of the City Civil Eng. The Board instructed the City Engineer to look after the re- pairing of the brick street at North 7th and Ft. Wayne Avenue. dr. Miller, Fire Chief, informed the Board that when the Main Street Bridge is completed there will be no way to get at the fire• hydrant located under the bridge , and recommended that it. • be transferred to the East Ind of tie City.
