HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-02-1918 254: Office of The Board of Public Works City of Richmond, Indiana Monday, December 2; 1918. The Board of Public Works of the city of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Mon- day, December 2, 1918 at 9:00 A.M. Two of the members of said Board being present , Messrs. Taylor and Peltz , absent Mr. Johnson. The following proceedings were had to-wit :- The minutes of previous meeting read and were approved. I. A. Gorman, Supt. Police Dept. , asked the Board to place an Arc Light in front of the City Bldg. The Board decided to look after this matter. The Board received the resignation of Chas. R. C. Sinex of the Fire Dept. ,to take effect December 1st 1918. Mr. Pelts moved the resignation be accepted, seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered, Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, informed the Board that he did not want an appointment to fill this vacancy at present as Clarence Lane formerly of the Fire Dept. who is now in the service of the Army will be back soon and he thought this vacancy should be held open for Mr. Lane. The Board instructed Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, to use his own judgement in making certain changes of men on the different departments. The Board instructed Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, to purchase the necessary gasoline for the Police, Street , Engineering, and various other departments. The Board instructed Mr. Davis, City Engineer, to get the necessary wagons to take care of the hauling of ashes and trash, Mr. Peltz informed the Board that E. M. Haas had informed him that on November llth the day of the celebration of the sign- ing of the armistice that the hook and ladder wagon ran into his auto at the corner of 10th & Main Streets and mashed one of the rear wheels which he had repaired at the expense of 9 .75. Mr. Pelts moved thatthe City pay this claim. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered. The Board- instructed the City Clerk to purchase a two wheeled truck to be used at the City Bldg. for trucking ashes etc. The Board instructed Mr. Dillon, Supt . of the Light Plant , to purchase a second-hand stove for his Store Room at the Light Plant .
