HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-31-1918 Office of the Board of Public Works 245 City of Richmond, Indiana Thursday, October 31, 1918: The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board, Thursday, October 31, 1918, at 9 :00-A.M. . All members of said Board being present Messrs. Johnson, Taylor, and Peitz , the following proceedings were had, to- wit : The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved. The Board adopted the following Resolution: Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, That it is deemed necessary to let a contract for the col- lection, removal, delivery and disposal of ashes and sweepings in the City of Richmond, Ind . , in accordance with the specifications oz file in the office of the Department of Board of Public Works of said City: Adopted this 31st day of October, 1918 . Mr. Johnson reported that the Board had taken the_ matter up with Mr. Clarence Gennett of the Star Piano Company in regard to the ex- change of the lots belonging to the City in the Hanover Addition, for the Water Right belonging to the Star Piano Company north of _ the Main Street bridge . Mr. Johnson stated that Mr. Gennett would consider the proposition. _ Mr. Peltz reported to the Board that he had made arrangements with Mr. Miller, Fire Chief, to have the Fire Dept . take part in the parade on Fire Prevention lay, November 2nd. The Board instructed Mr. Dillon, Supt. of the M.E.L. & P.P. ,to place an Arc Light on South N Street between the C . & O. R. R. and the Automatic Tool Company Plant. Mr. Dillon brought up the matter in regard to the claim_of the Dickinson Trust Company for $398.08 paid to the M.E.L. & P.P. . through an error for the collecting for machinery shipped to McGovel & Co. , 114 Liberty Street , N. Y. City, stating that the City Atty. had taken it up with the Dickinson Trust Co. , and reported that the claim should be allowed. Mr. Dillon stated that the Dickinson Trus Co. was willing to wait until the lst of , the year for the payment of said claim without interest , but would like to have a letter from the City Clerk imforming them that the claim had been allowed. Mr. Johnson moved that the above claim be allowedjto be paid after January 1st , 1919 , as per agreement, and for the Clerk to inform $he Dickinson Trust Co. by letter. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so or- erea, 246 Thursday, October 31 , 1918 . Mr." Davis, City Engineer , reported that the Stanley Plumbing & Electric Company would pipe hot water to the first floor, and put in a.#1. sink for the sum of 053.00. The Board instructed the Engineer to ket other estimates on this work. The Board instructed Mr. Taylor to see Frank Ray in regard to running the Street Road Roller, and if he could obtain his ser vices,to employ him. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board, Monday, Nov. 4, 1918, at 9:00 A.M. All members of said Board being present Messrs. Johnson, Taylor, and Peltz, the following proceedings were had, to-wit:- The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved. The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of contract un- der improvement resolution # 552 - 1918 for the paving of south 8th Street with conarate from the north line of south 8th street to the south corporation limits of the city of Richmond, Indiana by paving the roadway on such portion of said street as is not improved by paving, under provisions of the Three-MileiRoad Zaw, which improvement was ordered by the Board of County Commission- ers on April 1st , 1918. On motion the Board accepted same and ordered an Assessment Roll prepared. Mr. Horace Kramer appeared before the Board in regard to having north-west 4th Street. repaired from Richmond Avenue to Chestnut Street, Mr. Kramer also reported the bad condition of southside of Richmond Avenue from lst Street west. Referred to City Eng. Mayor W. W. Zimmerman reported the sewer openings on South 9th Street without grate coverings and should be given attention, also informed the Board that North G. Street should be looked after. Referred to the City Engineer. Mr. Johnson reported the bad condition of north-west End street south of Richmond Avenue. Referred to the City Engineer. Mr. Davis brought the matter before the Board in regard to the proposed purchase of the Joseph T. Gist gravel pit. The Board instructed the City Engineer to take this matter up with the city atty. „` :.
