Special Meeting
BATE: August 15, 1985 TIME: 6:30 p.m.
MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: Mayor Latta, W, Sharp, J. Bootz, D. Gullicksen,
K. Callanan, J. Dement. J. Peterson was absent.
OTHERS PRESENT: V. Krnac ~ Village Clerk
Attorney J. Harvey
J. West was absent.
At 6:30 p.rn. Mayor Latta opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.
Roll call. was taken, J. Peterson was absent.
Mayor Latta stated we are here tonight to discuss the letter of request
from the Fire Department and we will adjourn to Executive Session on
pending litigation and will reconvene. Mayor Latta introduced Fire Chief,
John Eichelberger.
Fire Chief John Eichelberger stated Saturday, August 17, 1985 Plainfield
Fire District is sponsoring a seminar on automobile arson. We will be
fiscally. burning four (~) cars. An arson investigator is giving this
class. We are looking for a place to burn these vehicles. Denny Bennett
and Corky Lantz had talked to Mr. Peterson and Mr. West about this. They
ask for a certificate of insurance and a letter formalizing our request.
when 1 heard Mr. West was on vacation I thought we better check into it
and this is where it stands now, you have received our insurance and the
letter of request. W: Sharp questioned if the Fire'.Distxict will clean up
after the seminar. Chief Eichelberger stated everything would be cleaned
up and we were wondering if it would be acceptable to do this burning on
Sewer Plant property where the Village burns the brush pile. Mayor Latta
stated she was concerned with the brush piled there ~nw. Chief Eichelberger
stated the brush pile would not cause any problem and if it started an fire
they would let it burn or if it got out df control, they will have the fire
engine there a::would put it out, if that is agreeable with the Board.
There was no objection. Chief Eichelberger stated this seminar will be for
Plainfield, surrounding Mutual Aid Fire Districts and Plainfield Police
Department. J. Dement questioned if the insuranae covers the other fire
districts. Chief Eichelberger stated they were covered.. The instructor
wants to burn two (2) oars Friday night, let them coal down and do the
investigation on Saturday, burn two (2) cars Saturday and investigate right
away. Saturday will be 9:00 a.m. to 4;00 p.m. They will have the tow.
truck come out. and pick up the burned oars on Monday and make sure every-
thing is cleaned up.

Attorney Harvey stated this insurance only covers Plainfield Fire District
it would not protect the other Fire Districts. Chief Eichelberger stated
we have a Mutual Aid Agreement with all other Fire Department that they
have insurance that covers them..
J. Dement moved to allow the Fire District to use the burn pile at the
Sewer Plant for an arson seminar on August 17, 1985. Seconded by W. Sharp.
Voice vote. 5 yes, 0 no. Motion declared carried.
W. Sharp moved to adjourn to Executive Session to reconvene. Seconded
by D. Gullicksen. Voice vote, 5 yes, 0 no. Motion declared carried.

Mayor Latta stated the meeting has reconvened from Executive Session.
W. Sharp moved to adjourn. Seconded by D. Gullicksen.
