The Board of Public 7;orks of the City of ilichmond , Indiana
met in regular session at the office of said Board , Thurs-
day September 26 , 19181 at:. 9 :00 A.M. All members of said
Board being present , Messers Johnson, Taylor and Pelts .
The following proceedings were had , to-wit : -
The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved .
Mr. John L. hethmeyer appeared before the Board and thanked
them for the privilege they granted Leverett Haseltin_e and
himself of the use o:f Chestnut Street west of 5th for gar-
den snot this summer and. arcked that if the Board decides
to let this around out for- gardening purposes next Spring
they would be glad to have use of same . The Board inform-
ed Yr. Aethrne4zer that if they granted garden privilege of
said ground they -would give him first consideration.
- The Board approved the Primary Assessment holl of Benefits
and Damages in the matter of vacating smith Street from
west side of South 2nd Street to the east line of the -,fight
of Way of the Chesapeake & Ohio iiai.lwa.y Co . under Declara-
tory hesolution 121-1918 , the Board fixed Thursday, October
10th 1918 as the day of hearing against said assessment .
The Board received a report of apprai cement. made by aprrai s •

ere appointed to appraise in the matter of Drill Press of
the Municipal :electric Light & Power Plant ..
The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of the Con-
tract under Improvement .L esoluti on 1Jo. 554-1918 . Lr. Pelts
moved that it be accepted and the Clerk ordered to prepare .
the assessment roll. _ Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered .
Mr. Davis , City Engineer , stated to the Board that Mr.
Peacock had informed him that in taking the sand out of the
gravel for the bridge that they were getting an excess of
gravel and made a proposition to haul this gravel and spread
it on Lest 7th street at the price of .80* a yard. The
Board instructed the Engineer that if Mr . Peacock would
spread this gravel on hest 7th „A. for the same price that.
they could obtain cinders , which is. 67' per yard , to have
him do so.
Mr. Holland , Supt . of the Park, appeared before the. Board
in regard to a line fence at the north-east part of the
Clen between the Park and the ground known as the Streets
Thicket . Mr. Pelts moved that the Park Supt . be instruct-

ed to place a fence on line laid out by the City Engineer,
Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered .

Mr. Davis , City Engineer asked the Board if the City Atty.
had obtained a Contract from the Street Car Co. for their
portion of the South 8th Street improvement , under lmp.
Resolution No. 552-1918 . The Board informed Mt. Davis
they would take this matter up with the City Attorney.

I/ • granting him permission to cut a 10ft . drive way in the
curb on the west side of South 2nd Street in front of
Lot 146, S. I. Smith' s Addition, all work to be done at the
petitioners expense and in accordance with the Standard

The Board did then adjourn.

Monday, September 30 , 1918 .
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana met
in regular session at the office of said Board, Monday, Septem-
ber 30 , 1918 , at 9 :00 A.M. All members. of said Board being pre-
sent , Messers Johnson, Taylor and Peitz , the following proceed-
ings were had , to-wit : -
- 'The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved .
His Hon. W. W. Zimmerman informed the Board that he had receiv-
ed communication from the Government requesting that no more
I/ improvements be made until after the War.
The Board approved the Primary Assessment Roll in the matter of
Improvement Resolution No . 554-1918 , providing for constructing
cement curb , gutter, and sidewalk 6' ft wide on both sides of
South 3rd Street from Main to A.
Dr. Boss appeared before the Board and asked permission for the
ladies of the lied Cross to use the unoccupied portion of the
West side hose house for their headquarters. Mr. Johnson moved
that the Clerk notify Dr. Ross , and Mr. Miller ,Fire Chief, that
the Board would grant the request . Seconded by Mr. Peitz .
