HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-19-1918 7 Office of the Board of Public works City of ::Lichmond , Indiana Thursday, September 19 , 1918 . The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana met in re~ular session at the office of said Board, Thursday September 19 , 1918 , at 9 :00 -A.M. All members of said Board being present , Messers Johnson, Taylor and Peltz . The fol- lowing proceedings were had , to-wit : - 11/ The minutes of the previous meeting read and were arpproved . The Board approved and signed bond of the Hatfield Electric Company, Contractors , for the installation of boilers , and _ stockers at the Municipal Electric Light & Power Plant. Co. The Clerk presented to the Board the complaints of the Councilmen at Council Meeting Monday, Sent . 16th which were referred to the Board of '.`forks. The -Board instructed the Clerk to prepare. a communication in regard to this matter and present to Council at their next meeting. • The Clerk read a communication from John Ha1l ,Custod ian of the City Bldg. asking for an increase of Ten ( 10.00) Dollars a month on his salary. Mr. Johnson moved that they defer action on this matter until later. SeccnNded by Mr. Peltz , so ordered . The Clerk read a letter to the Board complaining of the bad condition. of the Railway tracks on South H St . The : Board instructed the Clerk to notify Hackman & :clehfoth Company to have this track repaired . Pursuant to continuance to this date the Board meets to hear all persons interested or who' s property is affected by the vacation of Smith St. from the west side of South 2nd. St . to • the east line of the ld,ght of of the Chesapeake & Ohio • railroad Company as provided for under Declaratory Resolution 121-1918 . No one appearing and no remonstrances having been filed the Board now takes final action on said resoluti on, the same being confirmed without modification and. the Board orders that avroll be prepared of all owners or holders of property and of valuable interests , therein sought to to taken or to be injuriously affected ,whi ch list or roil shall also • describe the property beneficially affected , . the Board fixed a price to be assessed as benefits to be Three 03.00 ) Dcl- lsrs per front foot on South 2nd Street . The Board instructed Mr. Davis , City Engineer to obtain the use of truck from Mr. Peacock to help out hauling gravel on South 15th Street . Mr. Davis , City Engineer , stated to the Board that the Com- mercial Club would like to obtain One Hundred ( 100 ) loads of gravel from the Gist Gravel Pit to be used at the Cantonment Camp . The Board signed communication to mr. Theadore D. Gist granting Commercial Club privilege to haul a hundred loads of gravel from his pit . 228 Thursday, veptember 19 , 1918 . Mr. Gorman aoueared before the Board asking for advice in re- :ard to the inforcement of the Barring Ordinance . No action taken. v Mr. Howard. Dill appeared before the Board to obtain privilege of useing ground on North 10th between J ':it . and the river for < ' ` -drill ground for the Cantonment Camp . The Board instructed Mr. Dill tris ground belongs to the Miller Lstate , and if he could obtain the use of it for drilling purposes that the Cit7 would agree to level it off with road scraper .
