Thursday, August 29 , 1918
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana ,
met in regular session at the office of said Board, Thursday,
August 29 , 1918 , at 9 :00 A. M. All of the members of said
Board being present , Messrs . Johnson, Taylor and Peltz. The
following proceedings ' ere had , to--wit : -
The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved.
In pursuance of the- request of Common Council of this City,
His Honor , A. C . Lindemuth , Judge, pro-tem, of the Wayne
Circuit Court , appointed Messrs. Wm. F. Bockoff, Harry Land ,
and Chas. E. Arrowsr:ith as appraisers to appraise the Drill
Press belonging to the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power
Plant of the City .of Richmond, Indiana , with a view of sell-
ing same.
The Board directed the Finance Department to pay to Limas
P. Ierideth, Contractor, under Improvement Resolution No.
527-1917 , the sum of 754.37 , the same being 5% reserved,
retained en said Contract .
Mr. Peitz informed the Board that Henry Clark would like to
have the manure and soil taken from the City Streets hauled
onto his land on the Gaar Road. The Board referred this mat-
ter to the City Engineer to make an estimate on the hauling
and submit a bid to Mr. Clark for same .
The Board ordered the City Engineer to have the National
-eoad between West 2d and ';lest 4;:h ,street picked and rolled.
The Board instructed City Engineer Davis to have cinders put •
on West 7th Street from the Peacock Road to National Avenue .
Mr. Dillon asked the Board for an Additional Appropriation of
tp20,000.00 for the purchase of coal for the Light Plant . The
Board instructed. the Clerk to have the City .?.ttorney draw up
an Ordinance covering same . .
Pursuant to a. special meeting of the Board of Public Works
held in- the office of the City Attorney Robbins ' on Tuesday,
August 27 , 1918 , in which the Board took up the bids for boil-
ers and Stokers of the Light Plant and accepted the bid of the
Hatfield Electric Company and awarded them the Contract , Mr.
Peitz moved that the action of the Board at said meeting in
accepting the bid of the Hatfield Electric Company and award-
ing them the Contract be approved by the Board.' Seconded. by
Mr. Taylor. Motion prevailed .
Mr. Davis informed the Board that his assist Int Lee Ridgeway,
had left. The Board instructed Mr. Davis to get someone in
his place.

The Board approved and signed the Contract and Bond of P. .�.
Slick, Contractor , for the collection and removal of Garbage ,
in-• the City of itichmond, Indiana .
The Board • then adjourned.

met' in regular session at the offi .ee of said Board , Thursday,
September 5, ?)18, at 9 : 00 .A. M. Tc,o of the members of said
Board being present , Messrs. Johnson and: Peltz . , absent Mr.
Taylor . The following proceedings were had , to-wit : -
The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved.
The Board received, an invitation for the City Officials to ' at-
tend the dedication of the Preble County Court House at Eaton,
Ohio, on Tuesday, September 10 , 1918..
The Clerk presented the complaints made at the Council Meeting
of September 3, 1918 , to the Board . The Board referred the matter
of Lights on the North 12th Street Bridge tc Sup' t Dillon. of the
Light Plant . The matter of the drinking fountain at North 18th
& 'TC" Street , the Board decided to investigate further before tak-
ing any action.
In the matter cf the complaint of Mr. Evans in regard to cinders
being placed in the alley at the Interurban Staff ion, the Board
instructed the Clerk to notify the Traction Co . that cinders may
be obtained at the Light Plant and to have this place nut in good
repair .
