HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-26-1918 tOffice of the BOard of Public 'corks City of iiichmond , Indiana 219 Monday, August 26, 1918 The Board of Public Works of the City of L;ichmond , Indiana , met in regular session at the office of said Board , Monday, August 26 , 1918 , at 9 :00 A. M. All of the members of said Board being present, Messrs. Johnson, Taylor and Pelts. The following pro- ceedings were had, to-wit : - The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved . Mr. Thomas representative of the Staley-Crabb Sign Co. appeared before the Board in regard to obtaining the privilege and a lease -I/ for the placing of a billboard on tie vacant ground East of Sheridan Street and North of the Doran Bridge. This matter was referred to the City Attorney. The Clerk presented a communication from the Richmond ,City ;,rater Works , informing the Board that a hydrant had been placed at the North-East corner of South 8th & "Ltr Street . Hydrant rental on same will be charged from August 23, 1918 . The Board ordered the communication placed on file .The Board took up the matter of raising the wages of the two- horse teamsters. Mr. Pelts moved that the two-horse teamsters of the Street Department be raised to 60 per hour, beginning - August 10, 1918. Seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered. . The Clerk read a letter from G. H. Hendren, State Examiner in regard to the Northern Indiana Prison furnishing Automobile number plates for the Secretary of State , and was prepared to manufacture similar signs to meet the needs of cities. The Board ordered the letter placed on file. Mr. Dillon, Sup' t of the Light Plant asked the Board to have ap- praisers appointed to appraise a drill press belonging to the Light Plant. Mr. Pelts moved that a resolution be prepared and presented to Council requesting that the Judge of Wayne County appoint appraisers to appraise a drill press belonging to the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant. Seconded by Mr . Taylo: Mr. Pelts moved that the Building Inspector put up a hitch-rack on the South "A" Street Market Lot . Seconded by Mr. Taylor . The Board instructed Sup' t Dillon of the Light Plant to sell his Chevrolet runabout . The Board then adjcurne f Presider_ - -Board. Attest : ,02/ • ---a2T Clerk of Board .
