The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met in regular session at the office of said Board , Monday, July 22 , 1918 , at 9:00 A. M. All of the members of said Board being present, Messrs . Johnson, Taylor and Peltz. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: - The minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved. The Board ordered the Clerk to order one dozen brooms for the Street Department. The Clerk read a letter received by W. N. Johnson, President of the Board of Works, from Will. W. Reller, Chairman of the Wayne County Council of Defense , in regard to the utilization of garbage. Mr. Peltz moved that the Clerk be instructed to notify Mr. Reller , by letter , that all of the City Garbage was being hauled to the country and fed to hogs and the ques- tion of a Reduction Plant is being considered. Seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered. Mr. Taylor presented a bid for the wiring of the Glen Park Greenhouse. the Board decided to get other bids on this wiring. The Board took up the matter of allowing the garbage gather- ers pay for the holidays. Mr. Taylor moved that the garbage gatherers at the crematory be allowed their regular pay on holidays. Seconded by Mr. Peitz . Mr. Davis, L'ity Civil :engineer presented plans and specifi - cations for the heating plant at the City Building. Mr. Peitz moved that ihe plans and specifications be accepted and the Clerk instructed tc advertise for bids according to specifica- tions. Seconded by Mr. Taylor . The Board_ adopted Imp. hes. No. 556-1918 for a heating plant.for the City Building. Mr. Johnson of the Light , Heat & Pover Plant appeared before the Board in regard to the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power 'Plant furnishing steam to the Light , Heat and Power Plant to be used in the manufacture of. Artificial Gas. The Board instructed Mr. Johnson that they would take this matter up with Mr. Dillon, Sup' t of the Light Plant and Mr. Robbins City Attorney. Mr. Davis brought up the matter of the Improvement of" South 8th Street under Improvement Resolution No. 552-1918 , stating that he hadnot heard anything from the Street Car Company in regard to their portion of said improvement . Mr. Peitz moved that Mr. Robbins, City Attorney, go to Indianapolis to take up the matter of mid porti oh of the : improvement direct with Mr. Rob' t Todd , Vice-Pres . & Gen. Manager of the T. H. 1 & E Traction Co. Seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered. 204Monday, July 22 , 1918 The Board instructed the Clerk to advertise for bids for the boilers, etc, according to Sup' t Dillon' s specifications , for the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant. Mr. Dillon, Supt . of the Light Plant reported the sale .of an . old wagon for the sum of $15.00. The Clerk read a letter from David N. Foster, Pres. of the Ind- iana Association of Park Departments , in regard to the Annual Convention of the Indiana Association of Park Departments to be held in Muncie, Indiana , on August 11 and 12 , 1918, .'Mr: Peitz moved that this letter be referred to the Common Council with the Board' s recommendation that the President of the Board of Works , Sup' t of the Parks and the City Forester at- tend said Convention. Seconded by Mr. Taylor . . The Board took up the matter of furnishing electric current for cooking ranges. The Board instructed tit Mr. Dillon to bring up a schedule for a two-cent rate for the consideration of the Board. ' The Board took up the matter of the purchase of the Carpenter Dam. :".ftr.r some discussion on motion the matter was laid over until the next meeting . Bills to the amount of $2858. 74 were allowed and ordered paid. The Board approved the various payrolls up to and includille July 15, 1918. • The Board then adjourned. ___�02- 01 Presi en o : Board.
