HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-15-1918 Office of the Board of Public Works , 199 city of Richmond , Indiana Monday, nly 15, 1918 The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana , met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Mon- day, July 15, 1918 , at 9 :00 A. Y. All of the members of said Board being present , Messrs . Johnson, Taylor and Peitz, The following proceedings were had to-wit : - IIThe minutes of the previous meeting read and were approved. The Clerk rresented to the Board a letter from the Westing- house Electric Manufacturing Company in regard to the U. S. Government acting through the War Industries Board tock over the entire direction of the iron and steel industry. They have established a new policy in which no pig-iron or steel product can be shipped by prcducer except by priority certif- icate issued by the Priority Division of the War IndustrieSc Board. The Board referred this letter to Mr. Dillon, Sup' t of the Light Plant to make up data to present to the Board the necessary requirement for the Light Plant. The Board meets to hear remonstrances, if any, of persons primarily assessed on account of the -Facaticn of the First Alley, South of North "A" Street between lots No. 10 & 11, James K. Dugdale s' Addition, running from North 3d Street to the the first Alley West running North and South, also the Alley between North 2d & 3d Street running from North "A" Street South to the Alley running East to North 3d Street under Declaratory Resolution No. 120-1918 . No one remonstrat- ing the Board approved the final assessment roll of benefits and damages , confirming in all things the original assessment roll heretofore approved, thereupon declares said portion of said alley above desi 'nated , vacated and now direct that a copy of said assessment roll be forthwith transmitted to the Department of finance. The Mayor , 1�W. ro W. Zimmerman , brought up the question of oiling the streets . Mr. Davis stated that the delay in oiling was due to the petitioners not coming up with the mcney so that the oil could be ordered and that they had only ordered an 8000 gal . tank of Tarvia on this account . After the City had placed the order for the car the people then wanted more oil- ing done and if they dial this there would not be sufficient Tarvia for oiling the roads in the Glen Park. Mr. Taylor mov- ed that the Roads in the Glen Park be oiled at once and if there was any Tarvia left it should be used on the streets petitioned for as far as it would go. Seconded by Mr. Peitz . Mr. Davis, City Engineer read a letter from the Turbine Sewer Cleaning Machine Co. in regard to the sewers cleaned with their demonstrating machine . The Board instructed Mr. Davis to meas- ure up the sewers cleaned in said demonstration and present to the Turbine Sewer Cleaning machine Co. notifying them to send in their bill , on which they would take action. r ! 200 Monday, July 15, 1918 The Mayor , W. W. Zimmerman informed the Board that Henry Miller of 425 South Seventh Street had offered to present to the City two small alligators for the Glen Park. Mr. Peltz moved that Mr. Miller " s gift be accepted and a vote of thanks extended by the Board of Public Works . Seconded by Mr. Taylor. The Board extended a vote of thanks to Mr. W. H.
