The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Mon- day, June 17 , 1918 at 9:00 A. M. All of the members of said Board being present , Messrs. Johnson, Taylor and Peitz• The following proceedings were had to-wit : The minutes of previous meeting read and were approved. I/ The Board instructed the Street Department to look after re- pairing the holes in Main Street in front of the East entrance of the Glen Miller Park. The Mayer, W. W. Zimmerman, brought up the matter in regard to oiling streets and advised the Board to oil the roadways start- ing at the East entrance around the lake and out at the West en- trance. the Board referred this to the City Civil Engineer to look up as to the probable cost of same and report to the Board. Mr. Howard Dill appeared before the Board in regard to the dem- onstrating of the Stewart Sewer Cleaning Machine on a water galley at the Water Works and recommending it and made -a proposition to the Board that the Water Works Co . will donate to the City $100.00 toward the purchase of this, machine and -further would pay thecity at the rate `of. 04.00 a day for the use of this machine any time, that they might have use for the machine. Mr. 'Johnson moved; that Mr. ' Dill' s proposition be accepted. This motion was seconded by Mr. Peitz , so, ordered. Mr. Dill also called the Boards attention to the Improvement of South 8th. Street, stating th€it when this improvement was made a fire hydrant should be installed and as it took sometime to get the hydrants after they were ordered and he would upon the advice of the Board, place an order at this time. Mr . Feltz moved that the Board instruct ,' r. Dill to order this hydrant for 8th & South "L" Street , Seconded by Mr. Taylor, so ordered. Mr. Dillon brought up the matter of raising wages at the Munici- pal Electric Lighting and Power Plant . £he Board instructed the Supt' t of the Light Plant to take this under advisement. Mr. Dillonsuggested that The City Attorney be sent to Columbus Ghio "to confer with Pennsylvania Railroad Officials in regard I/ to lighting and power at the new Railroad `lard, Mr. Peitz moved that Mr. Robbins, City Attorney go to Columbus, Ohio in the int- erests of the Municipal Electric lighting plant. Seconded by Mr. Taylor, so ordered. Mr. Davis ,City, Civil:. Engineer asked permission of the Board to buy a 5 Horse Power Electric Motor. hr. Peltz moved that the Eng- ineer be instructed to buy a new 5 Horse Power Electric Motor to install in the City Shop. Seconded by Mr. Traylor, so ordered. 184 Monday, June 17, 1918. The Board now took up the matter of Bids on Sewer Cleaning Machine. Mr. Peitz moved that the Stewart Sewer Cleaning Machine as is now equipped and demonstrated, including water buckets, for $850.00, be accepted. Seconded by Mr. Taylor. On the motion of Mr. Peitz the City Civil :engineer was in- structed to return the Turbine Sewer Cleaning Machine to Mil- waukee. Seconded by Mr. Taylor.
