HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-13-1918 Office of the Board of Public Works, 1 81 City of Richmond , Indiana , Thursday, June 15, 1918 The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Thurs- day, June 13, 1918 at 9 :00 A. M. Two of the members of said Board being present , Messrs . Taylor and Peitz , absent Mr. John- son. The following proceedings were had to-wit : • The minutes of previous meeting read and e�ere approved. The Board approved and signed contract and bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt , contractor , under Improvement Resolution No.553-1918. The Board approved the primary assessment roll in the matter of Improvement Resolution No. 544-1918 for the construction of a cement roadway in the alley between North 15th and 16th St. from North "A" to North "B" St. The Clerk read a letter from The Improved Sewer Cleaning Machine Company. The Board referred this letter to the City Engineer. His honor the Mayor, W. W. Zimmerman informed the Board that after looking over the retort of the City Controller that he would ad- vise the Board to cut down all unnecessary expenses in the differ- , ent Departments in order to make •the appropriations hold out . The Clerk presented a petition for the vacation of the first alley running North and South, East of North 5th St. from North "D" St. to the first alley South , running East and West , signed by Forrest Monger and Henry R. Siekman. Mr. Peitz moved that this petition be layed on the table indefinitely. Seconded by Mr. Taylor. Mr. Taylor moved that no streets should be repaired only those which were absolutely necessary. Seconded by Mr. Pelt? , so ordered • The Board instructed the Street Commissioner to finish the work commenced on North 21st . Street, and then prepare to pick, scarify and roll North 3d Street .
