Mr. Zimmerman notified the Board that he had received a
letter from the Government instruc-1 ing him- to discontinue all
improvements,- except all that have been started.
The Board then adjourned.

The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met
in regular session at the office of said Board , Thursday, May
2d,1918, at 9 :00 o ' clock, A.M. All of the members of said Board
being present , . Mrssrs. Johnson Taylor & Feltz . The following
• proceedings were had to-wi t : -
The minutes of previ ous meeting read and were approved .
• Pursuant to continuance the Board takes up Declaratory Resolution
118-1918 for the vacation of the 2d alley west of Sheridan Street
running from. Laurel street -north tlo the first alley running east
and west between Laurel & Railroad streets. The Board after hav -
ing gone over and investigated said alley proposed to be vacated
and a remonstrance having been filed against said proposed vaca-
tion, thereupon the Board after hearing al parties interested,
Mr. Peitz moved that the Board take this under advisement in or-
der to consult with City Attorney, seconded by Mr. Taylor , so or-
dered.
The Board approved and signed bond of Central Auto Station to
construct a gasoline pump in front of Garage at1115 Main• Street ,
and gave this concern permission to proceed with the work and
instructed them to draw up contract and present to. the Board .

The Board approved and signed bond. and contract of Webb-Coleman
Company to place a Gasoline , Oil and Air D.is;pen_ser in front of
• their place of business at 19-21 South 7th Street .
The Clerk read a letter from C. D.Slifer in regard to filling
,• , a hole in front of his property. Mr. Peitz moved that this be
referred' to 'the City Engineer, seconded by Mr. Taylor, so ordered.

The Board directed the Finance Department to pay the follow-
ing reserve due-to-wit : - Improvement Re solution 533-1917.
Hipskind, Contractor 5`% Reserve due , -- -431 .80
The Clerk presented a petition for the improvement of South
3d street from Main street to South "A" Street , providing for
a cement curb and gutter and cement sidewalk six feet wide be-
tween the points named. abovei signed by Miss Carrie ,Veber and
Miss Alice Brokamp.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution #554-1918.
for improvement of both sides of South 3d street from Main
Street to South A street by constructing a cement curb and
gutter and cement sidewalk six feet wide on both sides of •
said street between the points named.
The Board received bids for cement roadway in the alley between
South 21st and South 22d street from South A street south
• about 150 feet under Improvement Resolution 454 7-1918 , as
follows, . to-wit : -

Mr Pelt z moved that the above bid be rejected and that all
previous action on Improvement Resolution 547-1918 be rescinded ,
seconded ty Mr. Taylor , so ordered.
The Board instructed Mr. Miller to appoint Albert Griffin as
captain on trial of the Ladder Truck.
The Board then adjourned.
