All of the members of • said Board being present , Messrs. Johnson, Taylor and Peitz. The following proceedings were had to-wit: - The minutes of previous meeting read and were approved. The Clerk presented the petiti ons signed by ;d A. Feltman and others for the improvement of South 8th Street from "H" Street to the corporate limits by paving with brick or concrete on such portions of such street as is not improved by raving under provisions of the three mile road law , which improvement was or- dered by. the Board of County Commissioners. . The Board unanimously adopted improvement ement resolution #552-1918 providing for the improvement of South 8th Street from the north line of South "H" street to the south corporate limits of the city, by paving the roadway on such portions of said street as is not improved by pav i n - under provi si ons of the three mile road law, which improvement was ordered by the Board of County Commissioners , April 1, 1918 , Said street to be paved with one of the following kins of pavements, to-wit: - Brick, Concrete, Creosoted Viood Block, Bituminous Macadam on concrete base. The Board approved and si gamed bond and contract of D. G. Burk- hardt , contractor under improvement resoluti on, 4549-1918 . Mr. Asher Winders put an offer before the Board to paint the stack at Crematory, city to furnish raint and. wi re , 5.00 and if he furnished the paint and ci ty furnished the wire 30.00. The Board decided to investigate to see if the stack needs paint- ing. The Board meets to hear all persons interested in or whose prop- erty is affected by the vacation of per ti ons of the second alley west- of sheridan street running from Laurel street , north to the alley running east and west between Laurel and Railroad street, under Declaratory Resolution, 118-11118. A remonstrance having been filed against said proposed vacation, the Board de- cided to go over the ground and investigate the same and con- • tinue said hearing until after making said investigation. Mr. Dillon brought up the matter of a motor truck at light Plant . After some discus .-)ion Mr. Johnson moved that the clerk be in- structed to advertise for bids for a one aid one-half ton truck according to specifications and city controller ask Council for an appropriation of 2000 .00 to cover the cost of this truck, • seconded by Mr. Peltz, so ordered . • Mr . Johnson moved that the controller ask0ouncil for an appropria • tion of 2500.00 for repairs at Light Plant _ seconded by Mr. Peitz , so ordered. 6. Monday ,. April 22, 1918 The Board- again took up _the matter of placing a fence around the Light Plant and decided to investigate this matter fur - ther before taking any action on this matter. • The Board received bids for Tarvia B or its equal as follows : The Barrett Co . ; Cincinnati3Ohio bid : We propose to furnish you ten thousand ( 10,000) gallons • minimum, twenty thousand ( 20, 000 ) gallons ma2limum Tarvia B in tank car lots of 10,000 gallons at a price of 13 per gallon, F.O.B. our factory at Ci,ncinnati3Ohio ,terms 30 days net , 2% 10 days. We . of course will not be responsible for non-delivery through strikes , fires , Government orders, etc . . beyond our • control. We will , however , do everything in our power to - make delivery if order is awarded to us. This material must be used before November 1st of this year, 1918 . - If any of our equipment is desired, we will rent sane to you at c1.00 per day for every day- same is used, you to pay freight to and from Cincinnati on thi. s equipment . We also charge you demurrage on tank cars as fellows : 48 hrs. free time for unloading, 2.00 per day for first five days , and 4-iii5.00 per day for tixth day and every day thereafter . This i s in addi ti on to the demurrage charge made by the • :ai-lrcad Company. • (See contract ) This being the only bid received , Mr. Pelt z moved that this • bid. be accepted and contract awarded to the Barret Co . seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered. Mr. Chas . Fish,907 Sheridan St . appeared before the Board and asked permission to use lot on west Eide of C .&0. track on Newman' s. Hill for .garden space. The Board informed Mr. Fish that he could use this space provi di ng no one else had been given this privilege . Claims for the amount of 11,115.02 were allowed and ordered paid .
