The Board ordered. Dr. Hunt to look over the situation at
North 12th and E street and notify the .Weldex Company to
Glean up around their place of business.
The Board ordered the City Engineer and Street Commissioner
to repair the holes and ruts in the cement, streets of the
city.

the Board of Public Works .of the City of Richmond. , Indiana
met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Mon- •
day, April 15/ih, at 9:00 o'clock A.M. All of the members of •Said -Board being present , Messrs. Johnson, Taylor and Peitz . ,
The following proceedings were had to-wit : - -
the minutes Of previous meeting read and were approved. t .

The Clerk read a letter from A. H. i' odefeld, Jr. in regard
to dumping ashes on hillside back of ,his property at 27 N. V
West 1st Street , stating -that he • did 'this because the Clean- V .
ing Department would not haul his ashes away. Mr. Johnson V
moved that the Street Commissioner be instructed to look after
ashes and. rubbish in this location, seconded by Mr. Peitz ,
so ordered.
The Clerk read a letter from the Board of Health in regard
to condemning alley between South 2d and 3d Street. The'
Board took no action on this matter . -
Pursuant to notice given to' the inhabitants of the City of `.
Richmond, Indiana , The board meets to hear remonstrances , if
any, against .the grant and contract presented -by the Hackman
•
Klehfoth & Company, a corporation of said city, its successors .
or assigns, signed by Fred Hackman, r`.reEid en t and Conrad S. V
•
Heet , Secretary, filed with the Board of Public Works on the •
•
28th day of March , 1918 , for permis sion to build construct ,
and maintain a railroad switch for its use in conducting and
operating its business in said

•" The center line of which switch track shall be on said North
F street about''three hundred seventy:7feet eastwardly from the
_ east line of North 10th Street and as nearly as practical as
follows : Beginning in the center line of the present rail-
road switch of the r o C . C . & St . L. Railway Company now run-
ning onto the property of said second party and running, then
northwesta.rd1y in.upon, along and across said North F Street
to a point crossing the south property line of said second

party and being about four feet and ei ght inches west of the
center of the present switch as the same crosses the North
line of said North F street . (Here insert contract and agree-
ment . On which date the Board of Public Works fixed, Mon-;
day, April 15th, 1918 at 9 :00 o' clock A. M. as the time at
which time said grant and contract will be finally considered
publ i c al ly, at the office of said Board., and upon said grant
and contract being published and notice posted as by law,
provided, by said Hackman , Klehfoth & Company.

After hearing all persons who appeared , (no one appearing and
no remonstrance having been filed against said grant and con-
tract) Proof of Public ation of said notice in the Richmond
Item,t and the Palladium and Sun Telegram, daily newspapers
published in and for said city , having been filed, and notic e
of said hearing having been posted in 10 different public
places in the said city of Richmond, Indiana, The Board unan-
imously approved said Contract and 4greement , subject to the
ratification and approval by the common Council of the said
City, provided that a. clause be inserted in the contract ,
reserving to the city the right and power to direct the removal
of, and to remove, the switch therein referred to , at any
time when the city may deem such removal necessary or bene-
ficial to said city or to the public .
• A petition was presented for the improvement of
North 2d Street from Main street to a point where the C. & G.
Railway crosses North 2d Street , and on North A street from
North 2d to North 3d Street , signed by Klehfoth-Niewoehner Co .
and Swayne Robinson Company. This was referred to the City
Engineer for plans and specifications
Mr. Peltz stated that the repair man left a hole on South 9th
Street without red lights or danger signals . This matter was
referred to the street commissioner.
Mr. Johnson stated that the Board met with the Police Coimiais-
• sioners in regard to protection of traffic officer at 8th and
Main Street . After quite a discussion on this matter Mr .
Peitz moved that the City Engineer and Su-pt. of Light Plant
work out plans for signal tower at this corner, and report
to the board as soon as possible , seconded by Mr. Taylor, so
ordered. Mr. Johnson moved that safety zone signs at corner
• at 8th and Main be looked after by City .Engineer, seconded by
Mr. Taylor , so ordered.
Mr. Peitz moved that German Fire Insurance Co. pay 4'132 .00 per
month for the use of hall at #4 Hose House and city retains
the privilege of renting hall for any other purpose except
when the insurance comp

The Board decided to investigate the renting of room

to the Richmond Singing Society.
Mr. Johnson moved that the Clerk be instructed to write to
Mr. Hiatt to take out bond and contract fcr installati on of
'Gasoline Dispenser on South 5th Street, seconded by Mr.
Taylor , so ordered. •
Mr. Peitz moved that the widening of North 3d Street be re-
ferred to City Attorney and City VEngineer, seconded by Mr.
Taylor , so ordered.
Mr. Hollarn, Supt . of Parks , appeared before the Board in re-
gard to the matter. of Boys playing baseball in the :arks.
The Board. instructed Mr. HolUarn to let the boys play ball in
the parks providi :g they dd not get boisterous or destroy
any proper'.._y and not play during hours of church service ,
and -if they broke any wi ndows th ey would have to ray for
same
-dr. Johnson asked the Board for leave of absence ft:r thirty
to eixty days. On moti on of Mr. Peitz, Mr. Johnsons re-
quest was granted.
The Board then adjourned
