HomeMy Public PortalAboutCouncil on Aging Board -- 2022-01-20 MinutesMinutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting Zoom Meeting January 20, 2022 Present: Denise Rego, Director, Co-chairs Andrea Nevins and Sharon Tennstedt, Lisa Donovan (COA Programs Coordinator), Steve Holmes, Jay Greene, Honey Pivirotto (Fin Com Liaison), Penny Holeman, Janet Stolzer Absent: Jay Greene, Laura Usher, Cindy Bingham (SB Liaison) Meeting called to order and Governors' Orders read by Andrea Nevins at 1:00 pm Revised Minutes of December 16, 2021 were unanimously approved. Documents and exhibits: Revised Minutes of December 16, 2021, Meeting Agenda, Directors' Report, Action Plan Implementation FY22, Report on COA FY21 DIRECTORS' REPORT: - See Report Denise, mentioned that the Office of Elder Affairs has sent out a mandatory LGBTQ Training that each person in the COA can take on line and send their certificate to Denise. - Hot meals at the COA have been suspended due to increased COVID. People coming into the COA must wear a mask. Kelly who used to work for the COA Meals will be replacing Maria. Last Friday, Denise gave Peter Lombardi her retirement letter notice, which will begin on January 31, 2023, FY22 Action Plan Implementation Review (see Action Plan FY221 - Lisa reported that Yoga was on going - Lisa has a person who will give a course on Beginning Italian. will also look into a Matter of Balance presenter. - Mike Gradone of the Recreation Commission is working with the Pleasant Bay Community Boating to set up sailing instructions. - Sharon mentioned that the proposed Cyber Cafe Program should be deferred due to COVID. - Andrea; asked about a program for Elder American Month. Sharon mentioned that it is scheduled to be discussed next month. Town Report The COA input to the 2021 Town Report was reviewed and approved for submittal. Bay Propertyffl Plannin5 Committee Marilyn Dearborn has submitted her name to the Cape Cod Sea Camp as a'n At Large Member. - There will be six At Large Members. Janet Stolzer has also applied. There will be one Liaison member from the COA Board. - Tours will begin again in the spring. Wells Court Update - Denise shared brochures from the Red Cross and FEMA that she plans to put at the doors of all residents to get the information of Emergency Preparedness across. The COA also has emergency food for the residences. The Wells Court Committee has looked into generators and found that they are between $60,000 and $100,000. Frederick Court has also discussed this issue. Grant Template and Opportunities: - Jay Greene and Denise have worked on the template and is almost completed. Grant applications must go through Peter Lombardi and the Select Board. The COA Board passed a motion to apply for grant money for benches for Freemans Way Ballfield, Brewster Road and Drummer Boy Park. Liaison Reports: - Vision Committee: Sharon reported that the survey to help formulate a comprehensive plan is available online during February. Property owners will get Cl post card regarding their response to the survey. Survey hardcopies will be at the COA, Town Hall and Library with collection boxes. Pop ups will be done in mid-February. Recreation Committee: The committee selected committee member, Tim Wingard as a representative to the Bayside Cape Cod Sea Camp Committee and Brendan Landry as a representative to the Long Pond property. The committee voted on placement of the Memorial Stone at the upgraded Freeman Way Ballfield. The repairs to the tennis court cracks will be done this spring. Matters Not Anticipated Penny mentioned that the Health Department has received data that many elders who got the first dose of the vaccine have not received the second dose. She asked if the COA could help in, getting the information out to those individuals. Denise said that they could put stickers on the next newsletter, put a notice on the town web site and notification on the COA email list that anyone who has not received all of their shots should contact Penny Holman or Janet Stolzer0 No Old Business k No New Business i Next Meeting: February 17, 2022 Adjournment: Meeting adjourned by Andrea Nevins at 2:15 pm.
